Well hello! If you’re stopping by from My Repurposed Life, welcome! The girls and I have been diligently working to make this year’s Haven the best yet! Our team takes great pride in how wonderful our “Mavens” are, so we really wanted to tap into that more this year. We introduced our Haven Mentors as a way to connect more bloggers with one another and foster relationships even better!
This wonderful group of bloggers has agreed to mentor our attendees, so we thought it would be a great idea for you to get to know them a little better! More importantly, mentoring should start now! Hopefully, these posts will help with that! I hope you’re enjoying them!
1. How many years have you been blogging? I can never remember this. I have to ask Beth every year, and she tells me. I’m pretty sure it’s my 8th year. (Yikes, girl! You old.) Outside of my sucky medical break (womp womp), I’ve blogged while teaching high school. I love them both too much to give either up.
2. What is your favorite DIY project you’ve completed? Hmmm this is a hard one for me. Most of the time, I’m surprised that any of my ideas actually pan out, but I’d have to say my office/craft room is perhaps the largest transformation. What started out as a bland, blank space really evolved into a bright, useful room. Building the bookcases, painting, and adding crown molding sure does wonders!

And after:
Ohhhh ok. I guess one more favorite project won’t hurt, right? My dining room gave me nightmares for years. I could never figure out what direction I wanted to go, so it sat as a shell of a room.
With some DIY elbow grease and a fresh coat of paint, it’s a new space. We did the board and batten ourselves for just a few hundred dollars.
3. What is something significant you learned from a conference? Oh man. Full disclosure here. I’ve been to one other conference aside from Haven, and I didn’t even attend the classes. I bought a plane ticket, flew down to meet my now best friends, and we talked for three days straight. My point? Perhaps the most significant thing you’ll learn from Haven is that there are other people out there who “get it”, who think like you, who make you laugh until you can’t breath.
4. What is one piece of advice you would offer a blogger–new or otherwise–who is going to Haven? Only ONE? Ugh. Leave extra room in your suitcase. When you see the amount of swag you leave with, you’ll thank me. Ok that was dumb. How ’bout another one? You’re going to be tired, but push through. Stay up a little late. Meet the girls in the lobby even though you want to go to bed. The conference flies by, and you’ll regret not taking some extra time to spend with your people after you get home.
Want to meet another mentor who you’re going to love? I’ll bet $20 she says something funny. And another $20 that it’s inappropriate. We share the same 12-year old maturity level. Head on over to Bower Power to see what I’m talking about!
