Let’s take this reveal back to the beginning, shall we? We were just getting ready to attack it, so I wasn’t particularly concerned with lighting.
It was a green room with black furniture. It was a pebble in my shoe, a thorn in my side—we didn’t get along well.
Prepare yourself for some pictures ‘cause I’m pretty happy with it.

I don't know you, but I hate you!! Look at that gorgeous dining room…I have some serious dining room jealousy rocking here. Mine has sat half way finished for months now! I needed this inspiration!
Oh Chris ,
doesn't that beautiful white trim just change the whole feel of the room , it looks so beautiful.
I think chandeliers are the hardest part at least ones that don't cost a fortune, good luck finding one you like .
Chris

Its fabulous! Great color on the walls! And the blue accents are perfect. Head on over to YHL they've got a great idea over there about transforming a chandelier w/ a drum shade…maybe you'll like it for your DR.
Fabulous job! Love it!!! 🙂

Omigosh, I love it so much!

This is awesome! I love the walls and the curtains- where did you get them?
What a difference. I love it. Your color choices are so pretty.
You have impressed me sooo many times, but this is over the top GORGEOUS. There are so many changes. The room is a total transformation. The wall trim turned out spectacular. Never thought those drapes would be so beautiful when we were out shopping for them. What good taste you have sweetheart. I feel like I just broused Candice Olsen's blog. You should be so proud. Fabulous!!!!!!!!! Love you
Mom
That trim makes the room. Great colors.
WOW & FABULOUS!
WOW! This is fabulous, Chris! I love the trim work. It totally MAKES the room. Well done!
It's gorgeous! Just totally gorgeous. The chairs, the WOODWORK! Oh my, so lovely.
I'd be standing in the doorway gazing at that room with hearts in my eyes all day. 😉
This really is stunning! When I saw the pictures I almost skipped over the post thinking that it was an ad. I didn't realize you were doing that! Great job! I'm so jealous!
Its so beautiful! And your photos are gorgeous! Love it all…and You!
Layla
Don't hem the curtains!! I think they look gorgeous pooled…but that is just me 🙂 LOVE IT!! What a change!! Thanks for the inspiration!
so gorgeous!!! You did a great job! I especially love the curtains, and the board & batten (is that what it's called?)…and the mirror…love it!
LOVE that!
I sooo want to do that type of trim to our basemnt walls. Can't wait for the details!
Enjoy the day
I love the colors. It's beautiful!
You are an artist!
Absolutely beautiful! Can you please come to NJ and decorate my home? :o)
I actually like like the curtains like that. Maybe it reminds me of the hems on elegant dresses you see and wish you had a reason to wear one. I think a splash of color in the form of a tie on the curtains would be just enough. Just my opinion though.
Fantastic! You have such great style. You are the blog that I visit at least once a day…if not 2, 3, 18, 🙂
Did you by chance paint the picture on your wall in the DR? It looks like something fabulous that you would create.
This is beautiful. I want to do wainscoting to my bedroom in a few weeks and I love the height you have it at. Did you also take your base molding off?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks.
I'm new to your blog, via a friend's blog, but am already in awe and trying to figure out what room I may be able to transform with this idea! I look forward to visiting your blog more often. 🙂
Oh – pretty!!! I love the color and your board & batten is beautiful! I just completed my first DIY projecy with Board and Batten and LOVE it! Now I want to do my whole house in it – lol. It is so classic and beautiful!
Gorgeous room! And I love the drapes too!

WOW!!! You've now convinced me to scoure the house for spots to do the trim work. I love it. It looks so amazing. And I also love the wall color. WOW!!!!!!!!!!
Everything is absolutely gorgeous!!! I love it all. Your curtains are so pretty, even if they aren't hemmed. Can't wait to hear all about your re-do. Love & blessings from NC!
What a transformation, LOVE it!! You did a great job, you must be proud.
It looks great! What a difference the board and batten makes. It really brightened the whole room up. Great job!
I'm speechless…ok I'm never speechless! This is just spectacular, beautiful, classic…
LOVE your redo! Makes mine look sooo unfinished!:( Your board and batten I dream about! Beautiful space!
O.M.G. That is stunning! I am totally in love and can NOT WAIT for the details. You are such an inspiration!
So chic now! It went from country to city with your beautiful changes. Looking forward to seeing what lighting you choose.
Unbelievable transformation! You are correct, what an amazing change with a fresh coat of paint and wood trimming. Also great selection of carpet color, very soft and goes very well with the color scheme you selected. Can't wait to see your final product, but looks amazing as it is! Keep it up 🙂
STUNNING! You must excuse me now, because I'm off to board-and-batten my entire house from top to bottom. 😉
I usually comment once in a blue moon. BUT I just had to leave one for you. I'm giving you high praise on a super job!!! I've always wanted to re-do a room. IF i EVER, I'd love to copy this one, because it is GORGEOUS. Did you make those chairs yourself?? I've been wanting to make parson chairs myself. Would love any advice. Again, CONGRATS!!!! Your hard work always pays off!
I am so in LOVE! Thank you for sharing!

Kristin
Hi, I absolutely love your dining room. Would you be willing to share where you purchased your art work? Thanks!
Hi Robin! Of course. The square birch tree canvas was found at Wal Mart for $25.00. The large, rectangular piece was just a painting I did myself. (Insert nervous giggle here.) I just mixed up some craft paint and made some swirls? Good luck!
Just came across your blog.. and your dining room transformation is FANTASTIC! I literally gasped because it is SOOO beautiful!! I LOVE board and batten! We just did it in our master bedroom, and I LOVE it just as much as I thought I would.. trying to figure out what other rooms I can add it to now 🙂 check it out…http://roomsforrentblog.blogspot.com/2012/01/board-batten.html. LOVE your dining room!
Hi! Your dining room is delicious!! I’m going to be putting up a chair rail in my dining room with grass cloth below it. My dillema is- I’m not sure how high to put the chair rail. I love the heighth of your board and batten. Would you mine telling me how high your ceilings are and the height of the board and batten? I have 10ft ceilings and not sure what the ratio should be. Thanks!
Tina
Hi Tina! Our ceilings are 8-feet tall (bummer), and we went up about 60 inches. I hope that helps!
What a beautiful transformation!!!! Well done!!!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you stopping by to say so!
Stunning board and batten! I love how it lightens the space, and the new curtains look amazing!!
xo-Lisa
Thank you, Lisa! I really appreciate the comment!
