2013 in Review

December 29, 2013 by Chris

Well, we’re looking into a brand new year, so it’s time to skim through 2013 and see if I actually accomplished anything. Surprisingly, I did! I haven’t chosen these from analytics (’cause I don’t know how), and I didn’t place them in a particular order (’cause that’s too much thinking), but I did save my favorite project for last. I like to see what bloggers think are their biggest accomplishments or their favorite projects through the year, so let’s pretend that you do too. And so we begin…

These Pottery Barn mirrors cost $300, and I made them myself for a fraction of the price. The savings alone makes them a favorite.

While I do love how beautiful it is, it’s a favorite project simply because I’ve struggled with what I’ve wanted to do with the guest bedroom for years. I have finally figured it out. For now.

You know organization is one of “my things”. I love it, and I want it to love me. This garage storage shelf is one of my loves.

I converted a frame to a fancy acrylic tray for $4.00. Yay me.

Nothing like a little state pride Michigan art. I still love this project.

Oh. Did I mention I love organization? This organized drop space definitely makes the list. I would have bet solid money against it, but everything is still in place. Weird.

I spent forever trying to find a mirror that I liked to fit over my fireplace, and I had no luck. I decided to build my own zebra frame. Take that, lack of selection in stores.

This seems weird to you, doesn’t it? It’s bunny ears on a piece of wood. Seems too simple to make the list, but I struggle with how to decorate for Easter in a way that pleases me. This little craft is so subtle (and cheap!) that I still love it.

Kinda wish I would have built this DIY centerpiece years ago. It’s already transitioned through a couple of holidays, and I can’t wait to use it for more.

And now for my favorite. The big dog. The big kahuna. I refinished my son’s dresser knowing full-well I was probably going to jack it all up. I didn’t! And I think it’s spectacular. 🙂

What I think is so cool about this post is that I came up with ten, and I didn’t even mean to. Skills, right? Well I know plenty of bloggers are doing yearly wrap-ups, so hop around and see some things you may have missed. My friend Rhoda is having a link party to gather them all in one place. Have fun with alllll that. I know I will!

Um yeah. That was a pretty spectacular “ten”. Wow. Sometimes I just love the little things and the tray and bunny art were adorable. Also LOVED the Zebra mirror. A little animal print is always floating around my house somewhere. Great projects! Happy New Year ~Shannon

One thing you didn’t accomplish was mailing the two winners of the Home Goods contest their gift cards. Normally I’d just let it go, but the fact that you ignored emails and comments on your blog as well as basically saying “the check is in the mail” when really it is not, is disappointing. I’ll be taking you off my favorite blog list.
