Daughter’s room

October 28, 2008 by Chris

Here are some more pictures of my daughter’s room. I look at it now, and I think about how many things I need to change. But…it’s forever changing. I’ll bet if I asked you to go through and pick out the cutesy things I’m weeding out, you could probably do quite well. Hint, hint: I used to have her baby clothes hanging from that shelf hook thingy in the corner. Let’s just say I’m looking for something new.

I bought the chandelier for $16.00. I had to paint it, of course, and now I need some sparkly beading to hang from it.
Still not a fan of the shams. I’m going to go get a bunch of down pillows–they look so much loftier and fluffier.
And this is the part I’ll work on next. I plan on getting baskets to go in the bookshelf cubbies, I need to change the hardware on the dresser, and I will beef up the magnet board over it. In due time…in due time.
This is a frame I made for her. She’s getting pretty good at writing her own name, so I framed it. She loves it.

So, it’s not quite there yet, but it’s coming around. Just around the time I’ll get it just right, she’ll need a “tween” room!

I have the same bookshelf in my daughter’s room! Target?? I just redid my daughter’s room this past summer. She chose purple paint for the walls, and we changed out the furniture for all white. I also have her name in letters with ribbon above her bed. I’ll have to take some pictures soon to show. I’ve been meaning to do that. I think the room looks great! Love the pink touches. Very cute and girly.

Your ideas sound great. What a dreamy princess haven your little girl will have. Lucky her! I think your idea for the light fixture sounds great. I can imagine little clear crystals hanging or maybe even pearls. Can’t wait to see your work in progress. And I agree, baskets really make shelves look more pulled together yet still incredibly functional.

I love it, it’s the same colors as my Sophia’s room. Not that you need any suggestions but since it reminds me of her room you could do a mistreatment on her curtains like I did. I think our curtains started out the same. Just go to my blog and click on window mistreatments. I’ll have to steel a few ideas from you. 🙂

Hey Chris, did you happen to see Martha Stewarts show yesterday? Well, she did a piece on a Halloween party that she did. I’m not big into the holiday but this was just amazing what she did. Picture soup served in mini pumpkins, a grim reeper greeting you at the door, an entire green glittered skeleton, and a real barn owl in a giant cage!!! The woman went all out. The best part was her menu cards which were so beautifully done but she had taken a punched out owl and glued it to the top corner of the menu. Check her website or blog. I’m sure there are pix. You’d love it all! Inspiration for next year for sure!
