Decorations in Guest Bath

August 2, 2008 by Chris

My half bath that most of my guests use has been…ummm…neglected for a looong time. I have decided that it’s that stupid color on the walls. When we built, it was my absolute favorite color, but man is it a pain to decorate with! Since I’m on a freeze this week, I decided to get a little creative with things I already had laying around. Here we go, girls!

I went to Hobby Lobby some time ago and spotted (get it? spotted?) these pig plaques(?). They were regularly $24.00 each, and I got them for———-$2.40. Don’t hate me ’cause I’m cheap. I knew they wouldn’t stay like this for very long.

Nothing a little spray paint and scrapbooking paper can’t handle.
Then, I went to the basement to look for some frames. A few years ago my in-laws had these “old-time” pictures taken of my kids and had them framed. Long story short, let’s just say that these pictures never made it to my walls. I have wonderful in-laws, but this is just not mine or my husband’s taste.
Anyway….a little more spray paint and voila!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to a website called wordle.net and they can make these word collages out of any words you enter. I thought people could look at my choice of words to live by while they…well…relieve themselves. The mat on this is actually a corrugated bamboo look–very textured. It’s pretty.
This post was supposed to be about the bathroom. Gees! Here it is…the 1/2 bath.
I’m going for a more spa/relaxing look. I’m on the mission for a bamboo rug and some type of bamboo roman shade in a light tone.
I’m not done dressing it up yet. I think this might be the one room I can get away with doing some greenery. I love the look of natural green moss and stones, so I’ll add some of that once the freeze is lifted. I hate that freeze.

I went out in my rainboots at 11:43 last night to cut some Queen Anne’s Lace. My mom always says I should do more arrangements out of it (its wild), so this is for her. Again, it’s not done, but this is what I had for FREE. Remember?

Don’t be too harsh. I did this completely on my own–even the mollies for the shelf!–at 11:30 last night WHILE on a spending freeze! It’s better than nothing at all, right?
