Girl’s Room Resource

February 29, 2012 by Chris

Hey, all. At first I didn’t know if this post would be warranted, but I’ve received so many e-mails. It just seems like the best way to answer all of them. A quick post, but chuck full of information!

blue girls room

  • Daybed–purchased here. I got it with the trundle, and it came with a free mattress for it. Perfect for sleepovers.
  • Duvet—Serena and Lily (Anabel Duvet) Worth every single penny.
  • Curtains—Ikea Aina They’re a pink linen, and I love them!
  • Rug—purchased here. It’s a 5×8
  • Wall color—Benjamin Moore’s Iced Green
  • Tree mural—I painted it. You can see my tutorial here and some other updates here. I still can’t find the original source for where I got the image, but I DID find the vinyl of it on Etsy. If you’d like to buy it, you can go here!

This room has a great look. The bed and tree on the wall have the feel of a great reading nook.

I cannot even tell you how many times I’ve looked at this picture. My daughter had to have it. Duvet arrived today. Not cheap but beautiful. Paint is on the walls. And since my daughter has a queen size bed i was concerned i wouldnt see enough of the rug so i ordered a zebra print bench for under her window instead. Curtains are next. Youve inspired a total home makeover. Thanks so much

Whoops… One question… Are the curtains darker in your photo?

I am also redoing my daughter’s room because of your picture!! We have the duvet and we just moved into our new house so i am going to get ready to paint. I am also about to order the Aina Ikea curtains and the pink linen in the picture looks like a very light pale pink and in your picture they look more coral. I just want to make sure that they are the same curtains you have and that Aina didn’t used to have a different pink option. I love the way they look in your picture! Thanks! When I am done I will post a picture on pinterest under Rachel Cardona

Great room! I have been looking for a daybed for our toddler and I was wondering if you’re happy with the one your purchased from DayBeds.com (Hayneedle)? I’ve purchased furniture items from them before and have mixed feelings. Thanks!

Hi There, I love this room! I’m wondering where you got the toss pillows.

Hey! Wondering if you ordered the duvet insert from the same site as the duvet?

Ok great! I was hoping you didn’t because it was a bit pricey. So, any regular king size down comforter will work?

Hi Chris, I ordered the same Annabel duvet for my daughter and have been trying to determine a paint color for her room. I like the color Serena & Lilly has matched up with the duvet, but it’s similar to the color in my wife’s and my room. So as I searched for a different color, I found your page and really love what you did with your daughters room. So my question is, how do you feel the Benjamin Moore’s Iced Green goes with the Serena & Lilly Annabel duvet? Would you still choose the same paint color, if not, what would you do differently? Thanks!

This is beautiful. We are about to purchase a new home and my 5 year old (and myself) LOVE this room. I love it becuase of the color of the walls and curtains. When I went to look at the link for the curtains they are much lighter than in your picture. My question is, since the curtains are lighter and not as coral.. is the duvet lighter in person also? How about the pink color. In the picture it looks more blue than the named color of ice green (I know paint colors and names don’t always match though)

(I am linking your site from my blog when I post about redoing her room)

Hi Chris… Thank you for your inspiration!!! I clicked on the etsy link, but it states that
it no longer exists :(…. I’m so disillusioned… We’ve been working on our home since December bc it was a fixer uppper. We are finally painting the upstairs, still no floors, so that we can stop sleeping on air mattresses and put the kids in rooms… I was sooo motivated with this tree, lol…
and now it says they don’t have it… Any ideas you can give me of what to do? THANK YOU! I love your work!!!

Marcia, I ran into the same problem! Where did you find the tree?

Hello! I loooove this room, I’m actually trying to copy the idea for my baby girl’s room! (Just the walls and the tree) But i’m a little sad because i did not notice that you gave the walls color name and my room turn a little blueish, not this Aqua Green color… My husband don’t want to pay again for a new color, do you think would look ok for a girl??? Or will look a boy’s room??? Thanksss
