Ummm hello. I could give you a list of what’s kept me away lately, but let’s just say that two of them are this here blog and strep throat. Neither of which has allowed me much spare time this week.
However, I did get a fun package in the mail this week, so I thought I’d show you some updates I made to my daughter’s room. After seeing all the work that recently went into my son’s room, I think she was quite happy to see some attention come her way.
It started with the tree mural. I made some cute throw pillows for her new daybed and painted an inexpensive chandelier. Good to go.
I used a dust ruffle to add some length to her curtains, I built some bookshelves to display her books, and I painted a new cabinet for her clothes. Double good to go.
I just couldn’t leave well enough alone. I was on the hunt for a new rug for her room but couldn’t find what I wanted for the price I wanted to pay (story of my life). Stealing the zebra rug from the craft room seemed like my best option, but it also sent me in a different direction with colors. And this is what I came up with.
Since the rug was “free”, I bought a new duvet cover to add some color. I spotted it in Edie’s girls’ room, and it was love at first site. It HAD to be mine…errr…my daughter’s.
I’m now on the hunt for a new (old) chandelier to bring in some of the aged brass in her china cabinet. THEN I’ll be done. For now. 🙂
If you’d like an entire post on all the resources for this room, go here. It should answer any questions you might have!
What a beautiful room! I LOVE that tree mural, so beautiful! And love the blue/coral/white color combination, it’s one of my favorites… so fresh and pretty looking!

Love this color combo! My daughter’s new favorite color is blue, so we have been on the search for a new comforter:), might have to check this one out too. However, what I love, she doesn’t so we’ll see where we end up. This looks fantastic!!
Love these updates – the room looks terrific! Where did you get the new drapes?
ps – thanks again for the live writer post. I used it for the first time yesterday. worked like a charm! I’ve yet to get fancy with it, but I’m excited to give it a whirl.
Love it with the new richer colors! I’m right smack dab in the middle of fixing up my daughter’s room too. Thanks for the motivation!
It’s gorgeous! love the colors and how feminine it is without being too over the top little girl. It’s perfect and that duvet rocks.
Very very cute. I love the zebra print rug in there!
Just beautiful!!! I can’t believe how fast you can just whip together a room, especially while being sick! YOU ROCK!
Very pretty…love the pops of pink from the curtains and the new duvet. Such a CLEAN room, too…haha. I wish my girls were that neat!

So fun! I love that pink pillow on her bed! Such great texture
Wow, the after is so much nicer, the bedding is gorgeous, the pink is fabulous and adds the perfect punch of colour. I wouldn’t change the chandelier, I love the off white. And that tree mural adds great personality.
I love it! It feels more grown up! The mix of colors are magnificent and less little girl! Definitely a place she can grow into over the next few years!
Love the new look of her room! The zebra rug works beautifully! What color are the window panels? They look like a coral pink. We’re currently making changes to our girls room. Would love to know where you found these drapes! Thanks for sharing the updates! 🙂
Beautiful room… I was shocked that my 10 year old daughter told me yesterday she wants me to paint her room light blue, then I saw this. Gorgeous!!! Can you please share where you found the curtains and what the name of the wall color is/brand? Thanks.

Rachel! I found it earlier this week (thanks to a reader). It’s not where I found it, but there is a decal on an Etsy shop. Peggy, I’m typing up a resource post for you right now! Lots of questions, and I want to answer them. Thank YOU! 🙂
Peggy – I was also curious about the bedding. I went to Edie’s blog and discovered that the duvet cover is from Serena and Lily; the bedding collection is called Annabel. Chris – Hope you don’t mind me helping out on the resources, but was dying to know! 😉

Love this room! I have the same zebra rug now I know what to do with it. I lover everything you have done!
Where are the drapes from?!?
Hi,
Love this room. I have the iced green for the wall paint, but was wondering what you used for the trim?
So, I picked up paint samples because we’d love to duplicate this color scheme in my daughter’s room. It seems so strange to me that this is a green but looks so blue. Would you say it looks blue on the walls? I have the samples up and it looks blue to me as well. Just wanted to make sure! Thanks! The room is beautiful!
Just bit the bullet and bought the duvet. Of course it’s on back order and won’t be delivered until December 15th:(…AND, they don’t have the swatch available for purchase either, figures. So, the pink color…is it like a rosy pink, or a peachy/coral pink? We’re moving into a new home and putting my 20 month-old in her big girl bed, so I’m basically starting this room from scratch:).
I love your blog, it has been amazingly inspiring and has kept me up late night reading them all.
Thanks:)
