I did a little experiment today. I walked into my favorite local hardware store and timed how long it took someone to ask if I needed help. 2.3 seconds. Seconds!! Let me ask you this. How long does it take you to get asked in a big box store? Just sayin’.
Michigan Retailers Association has started a great campaign called Buy Nearby, and I have to admit that I don’t give my little Ace Hardware enough blog attention. It’s like the secret love child. She exists…but no one knows. Ok, I took a little dramatic turn there. Sorry.
My point is that many of us–me included–shops at the big stores for our DIY supplies. I’m lucky to have a small store that can suit most of my needs. What they lack in lumber, they more than make up for in service. And I think that’s a great quality these days, eh?
While I do love the big box stores, they are 15+ minutes away from me. I need special attention in a sea silver metal thingies? Local, for sure.
Something I do know? This stuff. Seriously the largest selection of it I’ve seen. Who knew??
Ever get the feeling hardware stores aren’t for you? These projects beg to differ.
