School. is. out.
This was me at 6:22 on Friday. This was me at 9:46 on Monday.
Our last week of school is always a busy one with graduation, school parties, exams, and open houses. Of course, that includes finding just the right present for our kids’ teachers.
August 18th, 2011…Daughter: “Mom, I don’t know how I’m going to feel about having a boy for a teacher.”. June 1st, 2012…Daughter: “Mom, Mr. ——- is the best teacher I’ve EVER had!”
So what do you get a boy teacher? Since gift cards for a manicure didn’t seem right and a bouquet of flowers perhaps weren’t the best fit, we went with the classic. Baseball.
We’re fans. Huge fans. I’ve forced that tidbit of information down your throats here, here, and here. Soooo I took a chance that her teacher is too. His thank you card said, “What an awesome gift! I’m going to the game on Saturday!” Mission accomplished.
Let’s pretend you’re wondering what’s in the basket. “So, what’s in the basket”, you ask?

Can cozy
-
Water bottle
-
Sunflowers seeds
-
Cracker Jacks (of course)
-
Baseballs

Detroit Tigers gift card
I was a tad nervous about how it would go, but I think we knocked it out of the park. Yes…pun intended. My husband saw it and said, “I’ll bet that’s the best gift he’s ever gotten!” Dramatic? Perhaps. The reason I’m madly in love with him? Yup.
I’ll be back soon. I’m going to change out of my pajamas now. At 1:07 in the afternoon.

Ooh, great idea!! I was wondering about the boys. Actually, I might use this idea for Father’s Day!

What a thoughtful gift! I’m not sure what I would do in that situation, but maybe a DIY gift basket with a Home Depot or Lowe’s gift card with some assorted “manly” items from the store (tape measure, stud finder, haha). Or passes to local movie theater with some assorted boxed candies to take. Food is always a winner, too – like a tin of choco chip cookies?
Congrats on being out of school for summer! Enjoy!

What a great idea!! He’s one lucky teacher. I’d love that gift myself 🙂 Like you I am a HUGE baseball fan (Go Braves!)

Super cute! Go TIGERS! I think you should stay in your PJs for one ENTIRE day though. ;)!!! Enjoy your break, teachers so deserve it! Every time I leave our school after doing group work with the kids, my respect for teachers goes higher and higher.

AWESOME gift! My hubby would love it (well…if it was his team)

That is PERFECT. If my daughter gets into the teaching group I’m praying for next year, she’ll have not one, but TWO “boy teachers”. I’m filing this idea away for next May! Wishful thinking, I know. 😉
Congrats on being out of school! Go enjoy your summer!

I’m pretty sure that my Dave would love this for a father’s day gift… or an anytime gift. Who doesn’t love the Tigers?!?!

How cute! I would have been stumped, but you pulled this off beautifully.

Chris,
I’m a teacher, and I think I was more excited than the kids the last day of school I’m exhausted. I’ve got a lot of planning to do over the summer, but boy, having one last job for two months is fantastic. Enjoy your summer.

Hi! This is my first visit, via Pinterest (what an amazing place is Pinterest…). Glad to be here!
I did like this post – you made me laugh and smile. The gift is just fabulous – no wonder Teacher was happy. I would think that was the equivalent of a rugby or football (soccer!) gift in UK – though I don’t know if it’s possible to buy gift cards for the Teams… Still, I love the idea and may apply it to my DS’ male form tutor this year. I know he likes skiing (as he broke his leg… hummm, so perhaps he’s given it up… oh dear!). Anyway, I’ll get the Boy on the case!
Last year I made notebooks/journals for the teachers’ gifts; so Mr Teacher got a pair of pocket notebooks with funky paper covers (you know, motorbikes, footballs, baseball cap etc, all in foil on a black/grey background). I was going to repeat the experiment this year, as it’s a new school… now I might have a better plan, thanks to you!
I’ll be back, I think!

That is a good boy teacher gift! I will have to remember that in case my kids gets a boy teacher one year.

Love this! 🙂 My husband is an elementary school teacher and this year received the best gift. A Gopher hat and can coozie! His kids know him well! Being a teacher, it is always so nice to get something personal….it makes you feel like when you share little snip-it’s of the “real you” they are listening!
Enjoy your summer!!!!

What a great idea! I love this! I think you did a great job — my dad is the principal of a local school, and I know he would have loved something like this! 🙂 Nice job!

What a great gift. Boy it’s been a rough season, huh? We’re huge fans here too. The boys are driving me a bit crazy this year. Let’s hope they can still turn the season around.

I am playing major catch up on Google Reader and reading through all your posts from the past 2 months, and have loved them all, but I had to stop and comment on this one! I’m a girl teacher, and even I would have loved that gift (Go Rangers!). If you ever move to the Dallas area, I am more than happy to have your kiddos in my class, LOL! Praise God for summer so I can finally catch up on all the awesome blogs I follow. 🙂
