Thanksgiving Table

November 28, 2009 by Chris

It’s the day after Thanksgiving, and I’m still full.  I thought that shopping for 10 hours today would take care of that.  It certainly lightened my bank account, but not so much my belly. I officially have 5 Christmas presents wrapped, but I thought I’d show the table.  I did say I would…

brown white turkey plates

I bought these accent plates a while back, and I’m in love with them.  I had planned to take my table in a different direction, but my mom was pretty excited to use this fruit arrangement that she had seen.  That got me thinking, “save money”.

Thanksgiving setting

I made it my goal to only use things that I could find at the grocery store when I went to pick up the turkey.  Here’s the breakdown of my cheapness.Thanksgiving table

I went to buy a white tablecloth (who doesn’t have a white tablecloth??), but it was $20.00!!  So, I bought a twin size sheet set.  It was only $9.00 AND it’s a back up for my daughter’s room.  Hopefully, there’s no cranberry sauce stains! 🙂

Thanksgiving table

The runner is a painter’s drop cloth that I brought up from the basement (don’t worry—never been opened), and the greenery is just fresh parsley from the produce section.

Thanksgiving ideas

It’s certainly more color than this neutral girl is used to, but it turned out nice.  Tomorrow begins preparation for another holiday for me.  We’re off to cut down the Christmas tree.  And hang the garland.  And find the outdoor lights.  And bring the bins down from the garage…

Gorgeous table and I absolutely love the dishes! Your table looks so pretty and inviting. I hope you enjoy your day. I am jealous. Sounds like a perfect way to spend a Saturday and we are out of state. I want to get a tree as soon as we get back.
    Have a fun time,
    Tammy

Very nice, Chris! I love using "thrifty" things for centerpieces. The fruit vase and parsley bouquets are perfect (wish I would have thought of that!). The use of the sheet and drop cloth were great too. As a matter of fact, that was one of my table covers – drop cloth and a couple "runners" of fall fabric cut for color.

I do love those plates. I should really find some nice T'giving-theme dinner plates. Thanks so much for sharing.

    Hi Chris,
Thanks for stopping by to see my dining room. Your table turned out amazing! Especially for just finding things around the house. Love the sheet idea. I once made my pillow cases because a twin flat sheet cost less than a pack of 2 pillow cases.
Anyway, I got that curtain fabric from my source at the flea market.
($4.00 per yard for everything) The woman never has the same thing twice, so I grab it when it's there. It's by P Kaufman. The print is sort of "sketched" like a toile, but it's a floral. The colors are light blue/aqua with the flowers being a warmer natural linen color. I have extra if that's what you're looking for. I'll send it to you.

I need a PLAIN white tablecloth!
And the parsley…OH I love that dark green! What a great idea!
