Bathroom Update

December 11, 2009 by Chris

At the risk of having fruitcake thrown at me, I’m posting something non-Christmas today.  Today was our third snow day (I’m greedy and praying for our 4th tomorrow), so I spent some time tweaking things I’ve been meaning to tweak.

IMG_8666

I’ve simply had a couple of bare spots here and there from when I last painted this room, and I shopped the house to fill them.  I know this wheat is supposed to be “fall”, but I just love the colors.  Therefore, it stays.

IMG_8659

Next bare spot?  I had this wreath and some spare twine (I mean, who doesn’t have spare twine?) laying around, so I used ‘em up. IMG_8646

Don’t mind the ribbon.  It’s temporary, but we’re in the midst of a blizzard here, remember?  It’s just holding it in place until I find “the perfect ribbon” (insert echoes here).

IMG_8665

I found an old barn star in my basement and attacked it with some craft paint.  I just used a combo of blue/green/brown until I came up with what I wanted.

IMG_8662

I love that it adds some balance to the desperate attempt at art piece of art on the opposing wall.  The feather wreath is actually an ornament from Kohls.  I need to go back and buy about 57 more.  Love them.

IMG_8660

Of course, in between painting and wrapping things with twine, I had to let this guy in and out of the house 7,319 times.  Apparently, he likes the snow but not the cold.

Have you ever eaten a fruit cake? I have yet to try this mystery Christmas favorite. I love your twine tree! I made one this year, but yours looks a lot better. I posted a picture of it the other day if you want to take a peek. Your twine that you used for it is really pretty, it has a lot of texture to it.

Aw, Maximus with a snowy face! So cute. I won't throw any fruit cake at you. I promise. I love seeing you fuss over that 1/2 bath of yours :). I think your additions look fabulous and I hope the perfect ribbon, ribbon, rib… (echos…in case you're wondering) is blue. I want it to pick up the tones in the Jardin box and your new barn star. I also want that feather wreath ornament! No blizzard here, so I hope to make a run for Kohl's and find one!

Well, no one can accuse you of slacking off because of a little snow! That's a nice size bathroom and I love all the accessories you brought in. Love that star {looks like it would go great in my master bedroom}! Since tomorrow is Friday, I'll cross my fingers you get another snow day out of the deal.

I love that you aren't posting a Christmas post – I'm already behind as is. love your wreath – I even have twine lying around (but not a wreath form).

I really like your twine wreath! And BOY do I hear you about the dog. I have two puppies that are in and out and in and out. It's maddening!! I've also had to resort to placing a towel in front of the back door so they don't track as much snow throughout the house. Arg.

Lovely bathroom! I'd stay there and not come out! LOL!

    That wreath is just lovely…

Impressive! And I, too, sympathize with the dog. Mine seems enthralled by the snow…and wind….and frigid temperatures. Who knew? Not me, until I had to spend 15 minutes outside trying to coax him back in yesterday. Today, I decided he was on his own. That is what fur is for–actually keeping him warm outside if he chooses to play out there–NOT for gathering all over my countertops.

You know it's a blizzard when they have snow days in Michigan. My goodness! Enjoy yourself!!

It was fun to see your bathroom updates. Isn't this the bathroom that was responsible for that untimely visit to the ER? Hope your back is firmly back into the young woman category.

I really like your wreath. And I love the barn star. Well done.

Absolutely love the twine wreath. And I think the ribbon should be blue as well. Our dog loves snow as well, but as he's a shih tzu, if we got as much snow as you, he'd be buried. Ever tried to get all the snow clumps off a very furry dog? glad i live in nc where snow is not a guaranteed part of winter.

What a pretty winter look you've put together.

I somehow stumbled across your blog a few weeks ago and love checking in on the little things you have done. I'm going to have to take some of your ideas and run with them myself. Thanks for the tips! And your dog is ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!! I just love his little face with snow on it. We live in the FL panhandle and it's finally cold(er) here and my dog is freaking out. He's a retriever and the night before a cold front comes through he can't sleep b/c he's so excited. He literally wiggles and wags every 2 hours all night b/c he can't wait to go stretch out in the backyard!

I posted a non-holiday post yesterday and it didn't get much attention compared to the rest of my posts. I don't know if I dare write about anything other than Christmas for the next 2 weeks! 🙂

    Love the new bathroom.
