Bonjour! Ciao! Hallo! Guess who’s back! Me. I am.
I’m just popping in for a project for Lowe’s today, but I’ll be back in full swing next week. I have one more FANTASTIC guest post to share with you, and I have 2,376 pictures of Europe to show you. Them’s just jokes. I’ll spare you a couple of them. Until then, how ’bout a little project?
It’s been a while since I’ve done a DIY project, so Lowes’ monthly challenge was just what I needed to get my creativity in gear. I’ve been crushing on this color combo lately. Pretty, no?
I love that Lowes offers small paint samples for just a few dollars. It can make a girl go crazy. So many options and so many projects to use it on!
I grabbed a piece of wood (from Lowes), a paint brush (from Lowes–duh), and I just went to town. There was no rhyme or reason to the pattern. I kept slathering on different colors until I got what I wanted.
A few pieces of advice I can give you–use a large, inexpensive brush, lightly mist either your canvas (in this case, wood) or your brush, and use very little paint on the brush. The fun part was just going in different, wild directions and coating different layers until they were blended. The beauty of abstract art is that it doesn’t have to make sense. 🙂
Oh I can’t believe I’m the first one the make a comment. Don’t think that has ever happened! Love your color choice here. I’ve got to check out those sample pants Lowes has. I get really upset to have to pay a fortune for a sample elsewhere. Your genius creativity has returned. Your Europe trip has not hindered that at all. So glad your back! Love Mom
Turned out great! Welcome back!
Love the color combo!
Love your painting! Although I didn’t notice if you signed it or anything…. I believe that’s what all great artists are supposed to do, you know. 🙂
Yes, we’re glad you’re back, but we can understand you not really wanting to be back in the States – home, yes – but if home was, say, Italy, that would be better, right? Ha, ha!
I actually didn’t know that Lowe’s had those little paint samples, though. That’s great to know. Thanks for that tip. I’m on my way!
Great idea, love this project! I featured you today on my Kick-Off Friday post. Have a great weekend!
