I am an English teacher who doesn’t read books.
There. I said it. I read ferociously, ok? Just…not books. So my resolution is to change that. I have joined a book club with my girlfriends, and now I’m asking you to join!
If you’re like me, you want to read more. Finding the time, however, is another issue. Work, spouses, kids, hours binge-watching Netflix…I get it. But let’s take reading back, people! Let’s read like we’ve never read before! (Imagine me standing on stage with an echoing microphone at this point. I think it helps the effect.)
January Book
Before We Were Yours
Full disclosure–I read this already. I’m kind of a month ahead of you. Rule #1 of book club etiquette. Don’t read the book ahead of the rest of your group. #oops
From Amazon: Based on one of America’s most notorious real-life scandals–in which Georgia Tann, director of a Memphis-based adoption organization, kidnapped and sold poor children to wealthy families all over the country–Lisa Wingate’s riveting, wrenching, and ultimately uplifting tale reminds us how, even though the paths we take can lead to many places, the heart never forgets where we belong.
You can purchase it from any of the links I provided here–including through Kindle, which is what I use–borrow it from someone, or check it out from the library!
Just a Girl Book Club!
Perhaps you want to read it with me. Maybe you don’t want to read it now, but you just appreciate the suggestion–either way is fine with me! I will be back at the end of the month to do a brief review of it, and you’re welcome to chime in in the comments section! I welcome it!
