Oook. Where’d we leave off? I had so many messages/comments about your favorites below! I’m with you–how do you choose?
After choosing Pergo’s Smoked Chestnut laminate flooring, the next step was installation. Let me be very clear on what went down at the JaG house. My son went in for an emergency surgery due to a bacteria in his femur. Crazy, right? While we were paying visits to the hospital, working, and running our daughter to practices, my father-in-law laid the entire basement by. him. self!
~~~~900 square feet of Pergo flooring was installed by one 74-year old man. In 3 days.~~~~
The only problem with this is that he did it so fast I barely got any pictures of the process! My husband took these images, so I hope they demonstrate how easy it was to install laminate flooring–especially for me, considering I didn’t do anything.
Because we had so many cuts and small parts on the other side of the basement, we decided to start on the longest wall. We started by using Pergo Gold Underlayment. We are lucky that we have no water issues in the basement, but this should serve as a precaution just in case due to the moisture protection the underlayment provides.
Notice the little shim tool on the left? That helped to lock each piece in when butted up against a wall. Again, we were lucky to have no trim to deal with. It made installation much easier!
And here he is locking it into place. Super simple!
Because I am a visual learner, I am including Pergo’s installation video on what it looks like to click the pieces together. Pergo offers an awesome video series for the whole process that I highly recommend. Where would we be without video tutorials, eh? #thankyouyoutube
The basement has come a LONG way since concrete and framing, and I can’t wait to show you what it looks like completed! I promise I won’t make you wait too long. I just have to clean up all the saw dust from other projects. #alittlehelphere
