I got out of work and spent the evening cutting back all my summer blooms. Good bye Shasta Daisies, chow pink Lillies, and adios little yellow Coreopsis. As I ripped out all of my containers full of struggling plants, I thought about what I could do to “fall-i-fy” the outside of my house. It doesn’t have to stop indoors, does it? I thought maybe something simple like this.
Maybe not. I don’t think I could even afford the large pumpkin on the ground. So…that led me to look around. This container is a little rustic for my taste, but oh. my. LOVE it!
Here’s one of my favorites. I love everything about it. Ornamental Kale and cabbages are definitely “in”. And now they’ll be “in” my containers this week!
I loved how Halloweeny this one looks! It’s literally some white pumpkins, black ornamental grass, and some berries picked off some trees. How easy is that? I think it needs some cute little Halloween picks or a cute little witch stuck in there. I just might have to look into this…
It’s so colorful, it seems like spring!
Another favorite. I love the tall grass, and the bundles of color underneath. I wrote this one down, so we’ll see how badly I can hack up my version of it.
I notice not many people mention outside decor such as this. Outside of our usual pumpkins, etc., do you plant fall foliage? Is it possible in some of your more southern states? Perhaps this is a reward we get up here in Michigan–fall plants. Because (lest we forget) winter is on its way. I can’t WAIT to show you pictures of that. 🙁
