I tried to keep things simple this year. One garland. That’s all I allowed myself. Last year, I did a Christmas mantel with no garland at all! This is progress.
I started out with an extra long garland. What you see is actually folded in half and tied together. Nice, eh? Buuuut still not lush enough for me.
To add some pops of color, I stuck in some feather bundles from this trim I’ve had laying around. Yup. Laying around. Who does that?
I strategically and methodically placed them in the garland. In other words, I shoved them into random spots.
I plugged in a few faux pieces that I’ve used in garlands in the past, but I went mostly fresh this year. Our weather has been really mild lately, so I ventured out to the backyard for some pine branches.
Again—no rhyme or reason. I just plugged them into spaces I thought needed some filler or some height.
The wood snow flakes are from Michaels. They were all under $1.00. Woo Hoo. The cream-colored ornaments I’ve had for years.
Take a look! You can’t even see where the fake and real merge! Me likey.
I was quite content to let the wreath and garland do all the work. No need for anything else. Put a fork in it, ya know?
Aaaand finally for an announcement. Joss and Main-one of my favorite sites ever-has asked me to curate an event. After looking up what the word curate meant, I gladly accepted! My sale goes live on Thursday, and I think I picked out some pretty UH-mazing pieces for you (and me!). Want a little sneak?
There’s plenty more where that came from, so head on over!! If you need a link to sign up (for free), click on the image below! See you there! Sort of.
Love how pretty and simple it is. Congrats on the Joss and Main gig. Merry Christmas, Chris!
Pretty pretty! I love it. I seriously love how you create something like that – the feathers and the pine branches? Beautiful! Does this talent come naturally? Because for me, I have to think – hard – to come up with something on a whim like that. Which I guess isn’t technically the definition for on a whim…
I love that desk you picked out for the sale! xo Kristin
Beautiful! I love the simplicity of it all.
Congrats on curating for Joss & Main! 🙂
I love the ideas you shared and I think I still have some time to try one or two of them before Christmas! Are you hosting overnight guests over the holidays? I love having holiday guests in our home, though it does take some careful holiday planning.
Your mantle is so lovely! I adore the simplicity of green and white, but I can never seem to leave well enough alone…
Such a pretty mantel and that wreath is so cool! Congrats on your Joss and Main event 🙂
Your garland is stunning. Mine is looking rather thin and sparse right now. I need to figure out where to get some fresh greenery because all we have is just a few gigantic oak trees! The feathers were a great idea– they’re a nice texture contrast with the pine.
Just opened my email from Joss & Main and saw your pretty face on there! Congratulations!! That is so awesome!! and the mantel looks amazing!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!!
It looks very pretty, the snow flakes fit perfectly.
Love the mantel garland. Mixing some of the real greenery in with the fake really gave it a fabulous, full look. Love it! Heading over to Joss & Main now to take a look! How exciting 😉 Oh, and Merry Christmas!!
Well hello Mrs. Curator! What a classy name. You are the perfect person for that kind of job. The one who “Takes Care” of things. I checked out your “EVENT” on Joss and Main. I’m proud and impressed.
Your mantel decorating ideas always impresse me. Always something new. This years is lovely. You are so lucky to have Christmas Tree Heaven in your back yard. My friend Tammy collects needles for me from her backyard. You can’t beat the real thing. I’d like to see a night picture, from the street. Bet it is breath taking. Love Mom
I’m all about the simple this year too. Your collection is awesome – congrats!
I love how you decorated your mantel! Very cute! I love the garland =) I wish I was creative with decorations.. I’m not the greatest. Every apartment that we’ve ever lived in, wasn’t truly decorated. It never really expressed our personalities or lifestyle =( So for the New Year, we’re going to start painting our walls, getting some photos up, curtains, rugs, etc, etc. I’m pretty excited about it!
