My little one is in her last year of elementary school, so this is her last Valentine’s party. We came up with something a little snazzy for her Valentine’s box this year, and it was quite easy to do! How ’bout a little Valentine’s cake?
The supply list is quite simple. I bought a couple of hat boxes for 50% off at Hobby Lobby. I removed the lid from the top one and flipped it upside down. Then I covered it with paper. The bottom box was untouched. Just a cute zebra print! Then, my daughter and I raided my craft supplies and found a bunch of trim and flowers to decorate it with.
I used my Silhouette to cut out the pennant flags and put some stickers on them. I then tied them onto some skewers with craft ribbon.
Some hot glue helped adhere everything together, and we just set it on a cake plate. Looks pretty real, eh?
She won 1st place for “most unique” Valentine’s box, so I’d say she felt pretty good about it!
I hope you’re having a fun (perhaps romantic?) Valentine’s Day! Little one is ice skating tonight, and my son and husband are at a wrestling meet. Looks like it’s just me and the computer this year. 🙂
So cute and what a fun project to do with kids! Love the mini pennant banner for the top!
We’ll done on the adorable cake valentine day card box you and your daughter made. Such a good memory making time.
I saw this over on instagram (I think?) and I was like, it looks real!!!! 🙂
Much better than a shoe box with a slit cut out of it! Great job and I love the banner on top! Sorry you spent Valentine’s with your computer. Hope you continue to feel better daily!
