You read that right. ORC…One Room Challenge. I’ve never joined simply because I’ve never wanted to be restricted to a rigid timeline. Unfortunately, timelines tend to be my #1 nemesis when it comes to projects. I start one…then abandon it. No worries though ’cause then I start another one. And abandon it. Are you sensing a pattern here yet?
One Room Challenge
The concept of the ORC is simple. Six weeks to finish a project/room redo. Each week, you get an update. And then a big ol’ reveal the final week! #cuethesweatglands I’m obviously joining as a guest, but there are 20 selected participants that you can follow each week as well!
Ok. So if you follow this blog at all (hello, all 37 of you!), you know that I already have a pretty nice home office #inmyopinion. We worked really hard building the bookshelves ourselves, and then I painted the room and upgraded the furniture. But it just never…felt…right. It’s pretty. I like it! I just don’t love it. Does that make me a brat? Probably.
Soooo what’s the problem? I wanted a place to be more feminine for me, but really I get that with my classroom. Then I noticed that it didn’t really blend well with the rest of my house. While each room has its own flavor, they still tend to have the same familial color tones. But not this one. That’s the start of the issue anyway. Did anybody even read that paragraph? How boring, eh? I could barely stand to re-read it myself.
Home Office Inspiration
I knew I wanted something different, but I was hovering over some paint options for the bookshelves. Then I saw this office by ABD Studio (Brittany Haines). I was hooked.
The shelves have to be painted. The end. Well, really just the beginning, but that sounded more dramatic. I’m leaving you with that. Next week, I’ll show you the exact(ish) plan! Until then, I’ve got some paint prepping to do!
