Thanksgiving Project

November 16, 2008 by Chris

Who knew we’d all take so well to this garland? I’ve been visiting all my “people”, and their versions of this garland are sooo nice! I know I gave you a sneak peak the other day, but I thought I’d show you the whole thing now that it’s got more leaves on it. Before, it was just a ribbon with a couple of leaves, but now…

I have a really large window in our dining area, and I thought it would be better to place it there than on the fireplace. This way, we can see it as we’re eating dinner (you know, like, once a week).

I thought it needed some “oomph”, so I added the “Be Thankful” stream down the middle. In hindsight, it’s too long. Next year, I’ll probably do “Give Thanks”, so it doesn’t look so awkward. Some people have asked about the leaves. Did I cut them by hand, did I buy them? I’m almost afraid to tell you. I’m a teacher, remember? We have a die cutting machine at work. It took me a couple of minutes to get about 40 leaves. Don’t hate me. 🙂

I wish I had different versions of leaves, but I was NOT willing to cut them by hand just because I’m weird.

The lettering was also from our die cutting machine. I simply took some scrapbook paper in and went to town (otherwise known as the staff lounge).

So there you have it! My gratitude garland!

Don’t forget to keep checking the links from the “I Can Make That” party! I now have over 100 presents that I have to make. 🙂 Enjoy all those ideas!

I really like it! I might use this next year. This year I decided to steal an idea from Sandy Toes and use a fabric marker to write on a table runner. Only it isn’t going so well b/c we eat out more often than not so we keep forgetting to write things down.

I, too, have a ginormous list of projects and have dropped some major dough for said projects at Walmart and Michaels. Oh well… what can you do? LOL.
