You asked, and I’m answering! Sweaters (cable knit in particular) are a passion of mine. I’ll even wear sweater tank tops in the summer. I know. I’m a wild child. I also run with scissors.
I got really sick over Thanksgiving weekend, but I did manage to go out on Black Friday for about 4.2 minutes. JoAnns had their canvases for 60% off, so I picked up some random sizes.
I purchased three ivory sweaters at a consignment store for less than $10 and just kind of draped them over the canvas to see how I wanted them to line up. Once I knew they would fit, I simply hot glued them to the back trimming off any excess once it was secure.
The green satin ribbon is really the star of the show. The hardest part of this project was figuring out various ways to make the bows. I lined up the ribbon andI hot glued the backs into place. Easy peasy, eh?
Using some sweater vases from another Christmas mantel and some fresh garland, I called it done. It’s festive, but not overwhelming. Good job, sweaters.
Is it normal that we’re days away from Christmas, and I’m still decorating? Is it also normal that I’m decorating, but I don’t have a single Christmas present wrapped? Yeah. Didn’t think so.
Awesome idea and a lovely mantel look. You are right that the green ribbon really adds the perfect touch.
Eh, my tree isn’t even up yet! You’re in good company. I was sick over Thanksgiving, too, and it has completely thrown off my Christmas prep!
Love the sweater presents. Such a clever idea! 🙂 You’d probably enjoy Nester’s finger-knit garland on her tree. I made some with super-chunky wool yarn (“fisherman” color, really natural-looking) — it looks just like a sweater! I’ve got 84 feet of the stuff. Just don’t have a tree on which to put it. Yet. 😉
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
What a fun idea, and great spin on the traditional decorative presents. 🙂
Cute! Why didn’t you just wrap your presents in sweaters and you’d be done?
Great idea!
You are ahead of me. I haven’t decorated yet. I have a
naked tree in my living room and I can’t seem to find
the spirit of the season.
I do have most of my shopping done though.
M 🙂
