It was in the 60’s and rainy here today, so I’m calling it. It’s time to decorate for fall. Of course, that doesn’t mean every room gets pumpkin-ized or hay baled. For me–especially in the less visible rooms–it’s about changing out things like blankets, pillows, or foliage. Since it needed to be gutted anyway (as usual), I started with my son’s room.
I found a plaid throw at Ikea to screamed fall to me. Plaid always screams fall, eh? Combined with the texture of the pillows, I think it warmifies things quite a a bit!
Some brown woven shades have made their way in for yet another layer of texture, but the big fall kahuna is the cowhide rug. I actually purchased it at Joss and Main for our bedroom, but that sucker just keeps getting cut from my to-do list. Until then, it fits in here quite well.
Two points to this post. 1. Preparing for fall doesn’t have to mean pumpkins–although I’ll have plenty of those! 2. My teenager’s room can be clean. Until five minutes after you take a picture of it.
Happy fall! I totally agree with your idea of re-doing stuff at a minor level first with the advent of fall 🙂 .. I love how you have done your sons room. The touches of wooden and brown cushions look so earthy & nice to eyes 😉

i love this room- so warm and cozy and perfect for fall!
Haha! Loved your last line, as I can totally relate to how my son’s room would only look that good for a minute. Great looking room, by the way!
Looks awesome, Chris. I love that it’s warm and cozy, without being over the top “It’s FALL”, you know? I’m glad you were able to capture a shot of the room while it was clean – I apparently missed that two minute window in my own son’s room. Sigh…
Love this room Chris. So so cozy! I want to curl up on that bed and sleep 🙂 xo Kristin
Wow! Your son’s room has to be the most stylish boy’s room I’ve ever seen. I love the gorgeous plank wall, and the rug.
Love, Love, Love this room, stunning, did I say I LOVE it…xxx
I love going over the top with my Fall decorating in some places and then balancing that with just a few touches of fall here and there in other places as well. Your sons room looks great for Fall! And I especially love the wall behind the bed! Have a good week 🙂
Lovely bedroom. Must take a lot of effort to make it look that way. Would love to sleep on a bed like this. Then again, it won’t look as lovely when I am on the bed hey?
The design of the bed is really fall-like and very warm. It seems to me that this bed is situated somewhere in a wooden house near the lake and in front this bed the mantelpiece is placed. I like such décor because it makes the room cozy.
Love how the orange makes the room pop.
Love the design of the room! It’s a creative way to say that fall is here.
This is a beautiful lay out! Perfect for the chilly fall nights but not too bulky!
This just excites me about fall! Now I’m inspired.
