The only bad thing about not working in the summer? I lose track of days. I literally had no clue it was Friday, but SaS Day is now up and running!
The projects are slowly–but surely–getting done around here, but I thought I’d share how we’ve been spending a couple of our days lately. It’s one of our favorite places to be together (proof is here and here). We’re going again tonight to watch the sunset, so I’ll share those pics another time.
One word to explain our time at the beach? Sand. Jumping in it, rolling in it, being buried in it—my washing machine thanks me every time we come home.
The waves were pretty small on this day, but somehow my daughter got taken out by one. Hilarious!
Don’t worry. She survived.
My water baby.
In case you’re wondering, this is PJ Hoffmaster state park. We’re madly in love with it. If you’re a camper, the campground is just another 1/4 mile up the road. Beautiful stuff, I tell ya.
Alrighty. Show and Share, my dears!
LOVE the pictures!! Looks like a great park…too bad I’m in Pennsylvania!
Seriously Michigan gets a lot of booing and hissing because of the 9+ months of winter, but gosh I forget all about it in the summer. Love me some Michigan lakes! 🙂
I can’t remember for sure but I swear you’re right around G.R, hope you (and your police officer hubby!) were safe yesterday and FAR away. Scary stuff.
xo
Oh gosh, Rachelle. I wish we were far away. Hubby was there–in the chase, getting shot at, etc.–and I was home in panic mode. He’s safe now. Thanks for asking!
That’s horrible. My cousin was a fire fighter to the scene with the four adults. 🙁 So sad. Glad it’s over with.
xo
That looks like an awesome place! I’m hoping to take my boys to the beach a few more times before summer is over…it is almost half over for us! Thanks so much for hosting Chris!
Thanks for hosting..
Love your pictures.. so much fun!! 🙂
Man oh man do we love going to the Lake Michigan beaches! My sister-in-law mentioned the beach you went to as one we’ll have to visit on our next trip. Our favorite beach is Rosy Mound (south of Grand Haven). It’s a beach with a roughly one mile walk through a lovely forest to get there….which weeds about many people! Too bad we live 8 hours away, otherwise we’d be at the beach EVERY DAY!
Never been to Rosy Mound, Astrid, but I’ll have to put it on the list. It’s hard to go to another one, when you’re in love with the one you know, eh? Going to the beach ALMOST makes it worth those 9 long months of winter. 🙂
Looks like you had a fantastic time at the beach, the picture of your daughter being taken out is too funny, glad she’s okay though!
Thanks for hosting, have a fantastic weekend!
those pics look like so much fun! 🙂 gorgeous!!!
Your beach looks amazing – funny shots! Thanks for hosting!
Jo-Anna
Chris, thank you for hostessing this fun party. I’ve been clicking around for a while now – it’s like a harmonic convergence of creativity! Hope you have a fabulous weekend 🙂
What a beautiful way to say you’re addicted! I agree, Diane! Thanks for stopping by!
We love the beaches on the Western side of the state. Have never been to that particular state park but it’s on our list! We were at Van Buren state park last year, which is a bit more south! Thanks for sharing those pictures!
Oh yeah, and the sunsets are to die for, aren’t they?
That is one of my favorite places when I travel from the East side of Michigan to the west side. LOVE the dunes and the sandy beaches on that side of the state!
I love summer family fun! You have such a fun blog! Thanks for hosting!
Aw, thanks Lizette. That was nice of you!
Thanks for hosting!!
oh gosh … does THAT bring back memories!! my family camped at hoffmaster every summer when i was growing up. my sister and i always thought it was because grand haven was the best place on earth. turns out it was because we were broke, and camping was “vacation on the cheap.” when i got old enough, i chose to spend my summers camp counseling near ludington because i couldn’t get enough of the western coast of michigan, and explored every nook and cranny from traverse city down to saugatuck on the weekends. i miss michigan dearly. looks like your weather was perfect and your memories perfecter!
I love hearing of everyone’s great memories of Michigan. I can’t tell people enough how gorgeous it is, so it’s great to hear that I’m not alone! Hey, as long as you thought it was because it was the greatest place on earth, that’s all that matters! 🙂
Love your blog…I always look forward to your new posts! I used to live about 20 minutes from PJ…in Spring Lake, since then we have lived near Ludington, in South Haven and now in another great Lake Michigan spot, Bridgman…it’s kind of a well kept secret but a beautiful beach and tons of camping…..just north Warren Dunes State Park! I have told my husband as he has changed jobs we have to stay on the Great West Coast! (he is a school super….I am pretty sure we are finally in a place we will stay for a long time!)
Goodness, Jill. You’ve lived in some pretty beautiful places in Michigan! You’re right. Stay on the west side. I’m from the east side and will never. go. back. 🙂
That looks like such a nice park! I added a link with our camping trip to Calaveras Big Trees but messed up when I named it, sorry!
Shut the front door! Hoffmaster was my literal PLAYGROUND as a kid. I lived on Lake Harbor Rd right on the dune/beach front about a half mile from Hoffmaster. I would walk the beach down to the park and wander around the nature center. Sigh. Good times! (And thinking back I seriously can’t believe how much freedom my parents allowed me. I wandered the woods alone ALL the time!)
WHA??? Shouldn’t I have known this about you already? And yes–I imagine both our parents let us do things we would NEVER let our kids do now! We need to talk about this some more….
Thanks for hosting such a fun party! Tons of cute idea’s to keep my busy in my pretend down time 😉 Happy Monday!
