Show and Share Day {Halloween Mantel}

October 1, 2010 by Chris

I knew it would happen. I could feel it the moment I posted about it. Something just wasn’t right about my Halloween mantel. Why can’t I just be pleased with it and move on?

Halloween sign

I think I would have been just fine had I not walked into my grocery store tonight at spotted this sign. Yeah, my grocery store. I couldn’t put it in my cart fast enough.  SPOOKY BIRDHOUSE

Needless to say, I’m still tweaking. Perhaps I’ll share the evolution of this tricky mantel (get it? tricky?).  My girlfriend wants to do Hobby Lobby and lunch this weekend. Darn her. I know she’s gonna make me spend money. At least that’s what my story will be.

You’re up! Show me…err…everyone all your projects! I’m anxious to see!

    Tweaks only make things better. It's not a normal day around our house unless I'm tweaking something.

    Ooh I like that sign. Cute! I think I saw that somewhere too. Hmmmm, Meijer? Maybe. Anyway, I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday and they didn't have any Halloween stuff that I just HAD to have. While they did have some cute things, I just didn't feel the need to spend any money.

    Get out! What supermarket do you shop at?? I love it and I want one! I actually have a supermarket that sells some home decor type things. I think it's Stop and Shop {here on Long Island} and they actually have topiaries up on top of the different shelving areas. I couldn't believe it when I saw it ~ you can go in for a quart of milk and a topiary for your mantel in the same trip!

    It's absolutely impossible to not spend money at Hobby Lobby…or Target…or Michaels…or Old Navy. Ok, you get the picture. Just remind yourself how short a shelf life halloween decor has.

    Thanks for hosting! Mantels are made for rearranging. Hobby Lobby=dangerous but so much fun too. 🙂

    Mantels are fun to rearrange because they are so manageable. It's not like rearranging an entire room. And it's fun. And yours is cute!

    Okay, this is kind of spooky… but I was at that store yesterday and I saw that sign and I thought to myself "that reminds of something I would see in a picture from JAG"!!! I am not kidding.

    I really need to start posting my projects better! I'll try and do it! Be careful at Hobby Lobby! It's always a temptation for me!

    First of all I would like to say fantastic blog!

    I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing. I’ve had a tough time
    clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out. I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend
    to be lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin.
    Any ideas or hints? Kudos!
