How in the world does one wrap up a whirlwind tour of New York City in just a few pictures? Well, I chose some highlights from the trip, and I chose highlights of those highlights. You with me? Here’s a list of favorites.
#1. Spending some quality time with my brother. We talked for hours and came pretty darn close to solving all of life’s problems. And we sure did laugh a lot!
#2. Central Park. At night. After the first snow of the year. It was AMAZING.
#3. September 11 Memorial. It’s so compelling, it makes you silent.
The entire memorial is expected to be finished by March of 2013. We’ll be going back.
#4. Lady Liberty. What a feeling to finally see her! Of course, the feeling of nausea took over as our ferry docked and rocked for several minutes before we could disembark. After I got on solid ground, my brother said, “I’ve never seen you move that fast in my life.”
#5 The Empire State Building. Visions of King Kong? Nope. That’s just me. The scenery, however, was breathtaking.
#6. Rockefeller Center. The last time I was here, I was in my 20’s, and I just didn’t take the time to appreciate it. This time, we really took it in and explored. Totally worth it.
#7. The city. It’s no accident that many of my pictures are of the nightlife. I imagine going in the dead of winter had something to do with it, but it just came to life in the dark. I was not above standing in the middle of the street to get that perfect “city” shot.
Nor was I above taking a picture of myself in the mirrored elevator.
So it’s not a bookshelf made from leftover toothpicks or a chandelier from eggshells, but it’s what’s been keeping me busy. I still have to choose a winner for the Haven Conference ticket. I’ll let you know as soon as I do!
Beautiful pictures of NYC! Thanks for sharing all of your photos
Chris looks like you had a great time. I’m a follower (for the real DIY) but I also happen to live just outside NYC so I can relate to all your experiences so well. It’s hard, fast, loud and so awe inspiring but I still prefer my little house in the suburbs where DIY reigns supreme.
It looks like such an amazing time. I’ve never been there, but maybe someday. I love your pictures.
Just spectacular–especially the Central Park ones.
Glad you had a great time.

So glad you enjoyed your time in NYC with your brother! I enjoyed your pics! Thanks for sharing!
I’ve never been there, maybe one day…just not in winter!! Even though I DO have the boots for it! (see my blog for the boot story!)
Your pictures are absolutely INCREDIBLE and I can imagine Central Park with that first snow was just breath taking. I honestly have never had much of a desire to go to NYC…but your pictures did peak a bit of an interest. 😉 Glad it was a wonderful time and that it was especially enjoyable due to the quality time with your brother!
The pictures are breathtaking…I love NY. My husband and I have been there a few times during the Christmas season and January and the lights and snow and people are really amazing. Looks like you had a wonderful trip! Oh, how I wish I could sign up for the Haven Conference, but I’m expecting my fourth child in April and I can’t really get away…looking forward to hearing some stories about that.
SO fun, Chris! Someday I will get to experience NYC, but your photos just captured perfect moments! 🙂 I’m glad you had a great time! xo
WOW! Amazing pics- I love, love, love the pics of Central Park. This is making me ache for a trip to the big apple 🙂

I <3 NYC! It looks like you hit up all the big spots! Great photos, and I don't care what you say — you're gorgeous, and you don't look like King Kong. I'm a new follower! I hope you'll check out my blog too!
Was just in NYC myself. Your pics brought back such great memories! Really wanted to go to ground zero while I was there….
