Reason #215

April 1, 2009 by Chris

Why I love being a teacher?  FREE STUFF!  I asked my maintenance lady for some old locker baskets, and she delivered!

IMG_4882 Don’t mind the crumbs on the counter.  Apparently, my husband hasn’t learned how to clean them yet.

Yes.  That’s all I’ve got tonight.  I just spent 14 hours in high heels, and I shook 60 parents’ hands.  You guessed it—conferences!  I came home to messy counters.  Did I wipe them off?  No.  I took pictures of an old basket.

    Cool!

I’m thinking that I was smart to time it so that when I start teaching, I won’t have to go to my own kids conferences anymore.

Maybe I’ll ask at the kids school if they have any of these laying around…

I have the same baskets. I saw them one day while at the school. Asked if I could buy some, they said take all that I wanted. I took about a dozen, for free. I’m down to about 4, my friends keep hitting me up for them.

Awesome basket!!! You could do so much with it!!!

Crumbs? All I see from crumbs is hubby must have fed the family while you were on a marathon high-heel wearing day, ha ha. Good for hubby and yea for you for being finished with conferences!

Love the basket and your blog!!!!

    Great baskets!

My husband can’t clean counters either. Or tables. His version of cleaning the table is brushing the crumbs off it. When I want him really to clean stuff I tell him he can’t do “guy cleaning”, he has to do real cleaning.

I have 2 of those type baskets here at my office. I haven’t decided what I want to do with them so they haven’t made it home yet. I can’t wait to see what you do so I can get a little inspiration.

Also let me know how you get the crumb leaving husband to clean up that mess — I need to teach mine as well.

FREE!!!! I can’t belive you got them for free. I just came back from Warrenton,Tx where they have a week long antique sale and paid 11.00 for each basket for which I came home with 6. I have also bought some on ebay but paid way more for those. Free you lucky duck.
