This month’s Lowes Creator challenge was a no-brainer. I don’t have much of a pantry, so a while ago I decided to utilize our garage for some extra storage. Unfortunately, Michigan winters get pretty bitter, and we end up throwing stuff on the shelf in order to get back inside. The weather is starting to break, so the chaos needed to be tackled.
“How bad could it be?”, you ask. Take a look. That bad. This is mid-cleaning since I had forgotten to take a picture before I started. I know. Pity me.
Of course, I knew Lowes would have just what I need. I already had the shelf ( $69 from Lowes). Some galvanized buckets from the trash can area (wander the aisles–so fun!), and some decorative baskets from the closet section were just what I needed. I spray painted some items with Valspar’s Mirage in order to pull some colors together. Pretty, eh?
I always want to know how people have organized items. I labeled what’s inside all the containers so you know my approach. I use the large bucket for drinks in the summertime, so I didn’t want to fill it with something. Hence–empty.
My favorite item? The Nemesis now has a customized “little” food bucket. If I didn’t label, how would we know what it is? 🙂 I just used some vinyl lettering, and I chose the sealable bucket to keep bugs at bay.
I can’t say the rest of my garage is quite as organized, but having this space cleared out and put together so nicely is a breath of fresh air!
That looks great! I wish I had room in my teeny garage for that 🙂
That’s cool. I didn’t know Lowe’s had cute baskets like that. Did the linings come with?
So that’s YOUR garage door I have had pinned forever. I love that’s its black, my purely curious question is why did you put the house number on that door? I have one on my front door (thanks to your pin), but was confused on the garage one. I gave up and decided it was just something to add, but now I’ve found you I’d love to know!
Love from SE MI 🙂
Nice! How is it even possible for your garage to be so clean? The floors alone are cleaner than any corner of our garage!
I think her floor is cleaner than ones in my house, but we’ll just think that’s for the photos!
Cute! I am tackling my garage one corner at a time too. My husband has his own barn, so he needs to get his stuff out of “my garage” and maybe it could look cute too. Maybe I should paint it pink, that might keep him out!
Looks wonderful! Isn’t it nice after a long winter to get a section back together? I just decluttered my lovely wood top work bench. I told Larry ” Nothing goes on that counter”. I don’t know what it is about winter. Instead of looking for an objects original home, just hurry up and put it ANYWHERE. Hence my work bench gets everything. It’s the closest to the entry door. I love organizing and really like the pop of color you gave your storage shelf. Mom
The baskets really catch my attention. They look great at keeping things organized while being providing a bit of aesthetic pleasure themselves!
Love what you’ve done! So simple, so clean…so easy! I’ve featured this in my PINASTIC FRIDAY post, which will be up tomorrow (Friday, April 5). Thank you for sharing your idea!

Very cool! My home doesn’t have a pantry in the kitchen, so this would be a perfect project for me to do in my home! Thanks for sharing your fabulous ideas!!
My garage is ATROCIOUS, and it on my to-do list now that the weather is warming up. I’m starting to think I might need to rent one of those mini dumpsters that our trash service offers to get rid of the CRAP! Thanks for the inspiration!
