Well, I’m one of those people who can’t stand to show anything off until it’s totally finished. If I waited for that, you wouldn’t see any pictures. We painted and then I painted (and painted), we bought new carpet (for way more than we wanted to spend), and we bought a new leather chair to replace a floral chair that had seen better days–oh, but I loved it!! Here is the before picture:
So..my rationale for spending all this money. Believe me, my husband reminds me often of how we “went over budget on this, you know”–said in a very manly voice, of course. The carpet had to go. That was a no-brainer. I don’t know what I was thinking when I picked out cream berber carpet. Perhaps I was thinking we wouldn’t have 150 pound idiot…err…dog. I digress. I did/do love the room, but it just needed some warmth. I am a lover of all things neutral, but it was beginning to look blah. So…without further adieu (is that spelled right?), I give you the “warmer version” of our living room.
The lonely vase in the living room is NOT the only decor for this room. What I have realized is that now that I have new carpet and paint, I couldn’t possibly put all the remaining nick-nacks in there. What a faux pas that would be! Actually, I’m waiting for some artwork to come in for above the fireplace. (We won’t remind my husband how much that custom wreath cost just a couple of years ago.) Don’t you worry, folks. This is just the “bones” you’re lookin’ at here. This girl is just gettin’ started! Stay tuned. I’ll keep you updated.
Looks like a trip to Home Goods is in order or at least an online visit with Ballard Designs! Looks great… Have fun decorating.
Oooh! I liked the ‘before’ so I know I’m going to love the after! NICE paint choice.
I gave you an award on my blog today- come check it out! :o)
It looks great! Have fun dressing it up – adding all the odds and ends is the fun part!

Ha, I was looking at your before picture thinking, “nice!” and then I realized my faux pas! It was nice before, but how fun to get to update! I like the new look too! Very nice! Good for you on not putting back everything, it is much more fun to start over with just the right stuff!!!
Hi! Thanks for the award. I will do all the rules later today when I have a minute to understand them. 🙂 I’m so flattered! I cannot wait to see the finished product in the living room. It already looks so good!

Hi, I couldn't find it anywhere in your blog, but what color paint did you end up using in your family room? I love the color.
