Loss

March 17, 2011 by Chris

I’ve often spoken of my dear grandparents and my unexplainable love for them. My grandmother passed away this morning, and I’m absolutely heartbroken.

I grew up living in the same neighborhood as them, and my childhood memories are filled with enough love to last lifetimes. My family is very small which undoubtedly makes us very close.

I’ll be taking a few days off to be with them–especially my dear grandfather who is now a widow after 65 years of unfaltering love.

If only we could all be so lucky, right?

Chris, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my grandfather 5 years ago, and I still miss him every day. I pray that God gives you peace during this difficult transition in your life and the lives of your family and children.

My grandmother is my best friend, and I count my blessings everyday that she is still with me and that my daughter has a chance to know her and spend time with her everyday like I did as a girl.

    God bless!

I am so sorry to hear this news! I am also very close to my Grandparents! My 93 year old (this friday she'll be 94!) Grandmother even lives with me. Both of my Grandfathers died 8 and 9 years ago and I so adored them! Thankfully both of my Grandmother's are still alive. The world is a sweeter place because of them. I'm so glad you got to know yours so well. You are so smart to take the time you need, with those you love! Again, so sorry to hear of your loss. I do not know how I will get through losing my Grandmothers.

Oh, Chris, I am so sorry for your loss. I've enjoyed reading about your grandparents over the years. Your love for them radiates right through your words–it's almost tangible, and it's so heartwarming. So I know your loss is huge, and my heart breaks for you. I'm so very sorry.

Thank you for sharing your love for your grandparents and now sharing with us your loss as well. I pray that we may all share some of your loss and therefore lighten your burden a bit. God bless you now as you minister to your grandfather. May you all find comfort together in celebrating your grandmother's great life even in the midst of the sadness her passing.

You are such a lovable woman. I imagine that one reason for that is because you were loved so well by your wonderful grandmother. We all now share a little tiny bit of her legacy. Thank you for letting us share.

As I read your post, I immediately thought how fortunate we both were to have such a loving bond to our family members. I feel so fortunate to be like you to love them so deeply. That's what makes their loss so difficult. I don't think everyone experiences such closeness with family members and we should be so grateful to have been given such loving family members. Treasure every moment with your grandpa and be kind to yourself as you mourn your grandmother's loss. xoxo

I am so sorry for your loss. I can see your face in your grandmother's. My grandma (who was my only stability growing up) passed away about 4 years ago. I still catch my breath every once in awhile when I think about her. There is just something about grandmas. The neatest thing for me (and the most complimentary) was at her funeral hearing people talk about her highschool days and days as a young mother. I thought I knew everything about her but I didn't. I found out a lot of the stuff I am naturally good at and love, she did too. I will always cherish the memory of my grandma.

I love to think of them watching over me and my children now. I love how they live on in me when I say something they said or do something they taught me. We are very blessed in this day and age to have known our grandparents. Most of those in previous generations were not so lucky as people died so much younger. Take care:)
