I have no idea where these things have been all my life, but they are LIFE CHANGERS. If you follow along on Instagram, you know that I picked up a bunch of random items the other day. I had some cabinet hardware to install in the laundry room, so I picked up a couple of little gadgets to make my life easier. At the time, I thought they were a bit of a silly purchase. I was SO wrong.
Because I chose some pretty muted tones for the laundry room, I knew I wanted to add some sparkle in other areas. Martha Stewart hardware I found at Home Depot was exactly what it needed.
The cabinet gadget has a series of hole templates that you can use. I lined up the size of my pull and where I wanted it to be. Then, I just traced the little holes onto the cabinet door.
So easy, it deserve a collage. 1. Trace the holes from the template. 2. Drill the holes. 3. Brush off any excess dust. 4. Screw in the hardware. Done! And here they are. Sparkly, pretty…and most importantly, easy. The whole room probably took me 30 minutes. I have done this numerous times without the gadget, and it took me that long just to do one door.
Now if I could just get this room painted, I’d be 80% done. Ugh–trim work is not my favorite.
Wow! First, those are very pretty, sparkly cabinet pulls! Second, I did not know that the template wrapped around the edges of the cabinet like that to keep it in place. I can see how that would make it a handy dandy piece of equipment to have for that job. I do believe I need me one of those thingys…
Wow….this should have been a must when we did our 2001+ cabinets and drawer pulls. So easy it’s crazy. I love it! Thanks for sharing
It is a good idea to hold a piece of wood on the back of the door to minimize the potential of tearing or splintering the back on wood doors. I used to make my own templates in the past.
Love the hardware! They add a nice touch without the overkill for a laundry room.

WHERE did you get that thingy? I need one.
WHY oh WHY did it take soooo stinkin’ long for someone to come up with that gadget?????
Now if I only had any door handles to put on….
How much were the handles? I like!
Wow, that’s great! I’ve been meaning to install the cabinet hardware I bought for my kitchen cabinets. I bought templates that looks like yours, but it doesn’t work for me, because as it turns out, our cabinets aren’t exactly lined up! So if I use the templates, some knobs will be highher or lower than the others.
Funny enough, my mother got something like this kit years ago through the Sears catalog. They used to have a complete DIY section before the term was even coined. I remember my mother changing her kitchen hardware on a yearly basis, using these tiny kits from Sears. There were several templates and measuring boards, so to speak. I’d usually help by sorting nuts and handles into piles. We only had a manual screwdriver, so my mother did it all by hand. Your cabinets look very art gallery pristine, by the way. Great work!
