Something I didn’t inherit

September 14, 2008 by Chris

I worked all week (including two nights of parent open house), I cleaned all day Saturday, and I had overnight house guests who just left. My kids want a snack (when DON’T they?), and I just came in from the rain after chasing Maximus around the yard–have you seen my yard? I just turned around to glare at him, and he cocked his head, drooled on the carpet, and farted. I. hate. him.

Alllll of this leads into me using my mom for this post. I had no idea what to post, so why not use people I know, right? I’ve been trying to talk my mom into creating a blog of her own, but her response continues to be, “I’m an old lady…I have nothing worthy to share, blah, blah, blah”. Uhhh…check out this little vignette in her dining room.

See this bee-u-ti-ful arrangement? She made it. Yup. Made it.

It’s kind of hard to tell from the photo, but she’s got little gourds, bird’s nests, and feathers all over. SpecTACular, right? By the way, the gorgeous dining room set was just something she picked up while she was visiting one weekend. I consider that purchase one of my finest accomplishments. Look at all that money I made her spend! A little pumpkin container in her kitchen–again, made by mom. Look at her view while she eats scones and sips on pumpkin spice coffee in the morning. Perhaps I’m being a little dramatic, but how cute is that little nook of her house? Don’t even get me started on how GOOD it smells in that home! And lastly, this is one on her front porch that she just “threw together”.
Well, there you have it. A sampling of my mom’s talents. I think she’s worthy of a blog, don’t you? I consider myself a bit of an artist when it comes to peer pressure, so I’m hoping that this post just takes that pressure up a level. Even if she never blogs, I couldn’t let those arrangements go without being shared. I hope you enjoyed!

    Chris,
From what little I have seen of your mom’s house, you most certainly DID inherit her ability to decorate. I would definitely read her blog! Oh, and my youngest just came in here to ask for a snack. I swear the kid could eat.all.day!

Your mom for SURE needs her own blog! I like her table arrangement a lot. Maybe you can help her be low pressure about it and just show off her holiday stuff. Otherwise it might be too much. I can see where you get your talent from though!
