Fall Planters

September 25, 2008 by Chris

Well, I said I was going to do it, so I went and did it. I ripped out all of my summer pots and planted my fall ones in their place. How much did I spend????? $40.00

Considering I filled two oversized pots and one smaller one, I don’t think that’s too bad.

I hit the jackpot when I found two planters with a mix of flowers that were on clearance for $6.00. The pansies and the kale both came from those. A lot of places put their mums, etc. out too early, and they suffer in the heat. I brought them home, gave them some tlc, and they’re coming around.
The purple thing (Sorry, Mom. I know I should know the name) isn’t doing as well as I’d like, but it was on clearance for $3.00. That’s worth it for the three weeks or so it’ll be on display.
I had a couple of bare spots where the flowers will eventually start to fill, so I “plugged” them with pumpkin pics from Hobby Lobby. $1.75 each! Well, there you have it! One project down and 37 to go! I’m off to spray paint something! Enjoy!

So pretty, I’m so jealous, stupid deer and bunnies would never let me keep kale around, lol.

Also jealous that you are in MI and have a HL near you. The closest ones to me are Lansing or Adrian and they’re not that close.

Evertyhing is pretty-pretty-pretty, just like you 🙂

Your planters look fantastic! I agree…the mums are out too early here too. They all look so sad out in this heat! (though it’s been a LOT cooler here this week) I will buy some fall plants soon!

And…how close are you to Lansing? And I’ll only visit you while I’m in MI over Thanksgiving if I lose my 20 pounds first. None of my clothes fit, so it would be awkward otherwise… being naked and all. lol

Ooo…look at your green thumb! I wish that I could throw together cute arrangements like that. Okay, there you go see. I said “throw together”. I bet green thumbers don’t just THROW their plants. They gently place and tend and all of those gentle words. I have a mum I’m praying doesn’t die on me. Great job!

I wish that i could have fall planters. but my summer ones look better know than they did in the summer!
It’s actually kind of driving me crazy! i could go and buy some “FALLY” flowers-but i would have no where to put them-the other planters are still too big! Dang it!
i Do love the cabbage plants. I plant some every year and they do awesome here! It’s acutally one of the few plants I don’t kill. Pretty sure thats why i love them so!
