Closet Chaos

July 10, 2008 by Chris

Okay. First of all, how do I go from 20 comments to 6? What constitutes a lot of comments as opposed to, like, none? Well, I don’t have anything fancy for you today. As a matter of fact, I can’t believe I’m showing you this, but I thought it would motivate me to get the job done. Prepare yourself. Here is my closet.

I promise you this is not how it always looks. I swear there are just certain times of the year where parts of my house simply explode while I’m not looking. It usually happens at the end of the school year and around Christmas. Go figure.
Please don’t ask how it got this way. I really don’t know. One thing is for sure–I haven’t purged any of my clothes in a looooooong time. Don’t you worry, though. By tomorrow, I plan on it looking like this.
Amazing how getting rid of some clothes makes a room look so much bigger. I’m getting there. Right now I’m just trying to figure out how to get that lady to leave, so it’s slowing my progress down. It’s been awkward between us, to say the least.

I’ll be back when I’m done, and all 6 of my readers (for you, Marie) can encourage me by telling me their closets look horrible, too.

Okay, if you get your closet to look like the pic with the lady – I will pay you loads of money to do my closet. Some how I believe you will accomplish it!

I’m still working on my pillows. In fact I did my bed pillows like yours. They came out close but not as perfect. I’m sure it takes practice. 😉

It is tough when a stranger moves in…unless she straightens…

Looks like you’ve got great components in your closet…I bet it’ll look great when you are done.

Hi Chris! Thanks for visiting me and leaving a comment!

I have seen closets that look far worse than yours. I think I might just have to post mine, if that’s what it takes to get to work on it!*Ü*

I’m off to explore your blog!

This was actually how my closet looked up until about 6 weeks ago. I finally got tired of it and went through it. All of it. I came out with about 10 bags for Goodwill. Insane. And luckily for me, I’ve been able to keep it super clean!! I only wish I had taken before/after pictures like you did!

Okay Chris, I’m so glad to see something in your house that looks this way! All the pictures you post makes me sit here and drool. Everything is always so perfect and beautiful!!! Thanks for sharing your not so perfect spots. Good luck cleaning!

My closet looks just like this. Minus about 15 square feet. Yeah. The people in 1964 who built this house evidently only had 2 outfits that they alternated between. So there is only room for the one in the actual closet.

I love your blog design, btw. Have I told you that already?

I am jealous of the space you have in your closet! I have to share with my husband and he is not allowed to hang anything up because he always leaves an arm just dangling there! It surprises me because my MIL is such a perfectionist at those sort of things. Maybe he wasn’t allowed to hang anything up at her house either! Men, they do it on purpose!

    Good luck!

I am an odd girl who loves cleaning her closet. Short sleeved, white to dark, etc. I’m searching for cute storage bins to put odds and ends in while I dream of a larger closet. Good thing Lauren still lets me use 1/2 of hers! Happy cleaning – be brutal so there is room to shop for new!

A ha! You have 15 comments today! You must be on fire! :o)

When I saw that closet picture…I have to say… I felt RELIEF. Whew. My closet is even worse than that. Which kind of drives me nuts, since I just cleaned it up like a month ago! (ha ha) I literally have balls of yarn rolling around on the floor in my closet. Overalls hanging on the legs of an ironing board. It ain’t pretty.

your dog pains I share I have a brat dog , who messes and tortures my other dog, I won’t go into the depths of his flaws but I am hoping he will mature sometime soon.
Your house is so lovely , love your caddy I have the same one, it looks so messy when you use it though , some day it will b in my office too.
My closet disaster makes yours look like a dream , I really need to work on that , and our basement storage/dumping ground , I hate wasting summer doing those sorts of things.

Please come help me with mine! It is so darn small, but you are able to walk in though. We got a closet cabinet and drawers off of free cycle. Now we have to redo the whole set of closet bars to fit it in.

Hubby has taken it to the garage to store somethings in until we have time to work on this.

Can’t wait to see the final project!
