Post image for HomeGoods

by Chris on March 13, 2013

It’s been a little quiet this week, but I assure you I’ve been busy. Without being too dramatic, if I told you all the things I’ve done in the past week, it would make your head explode. Wait–I think that was too dramatic. Needless to say, it’s been overwhelming. Tomorrow, however, is the day. THEE day that I’ve been waiting 20 years for is here. My beloved HomeGoods is finally opening in town.

Homegoods opening

I’ve professed my love for HomeGoods for years, and if you follow along on Facebook, you know the countdown began a long time ago. All the chaos, stress, and emotions of the week are gonna take a little side step while I shop to my heart’s content tomorrow. The measurements are written down, my list is made, and my checkbook is nervously anxious to get going! If you don’t hear from me soon, you’ll know I’m hiding out in the storage room of HomeGoods. Probably sleeping on a couch or something. Hopefully, you’re having a great week!

You crack me up!!!!!

Michelle March 13, 2013 at 11:21 pm

Wait. I have been reading for years and I never knew you were in GR! We have friends there and frequently make that drive! Do you normally make the trek to Ypsi to get your fix?

Melanie March 14, 2013 at 12:18 am

I agree – HomeGoods is one of the most wonderful stores! Have fun shopping. :-)

Sarah March 14, 2013 at 8:23 am

I’m in Grand Rapids too. So excited!!!

Jessica@HomewithBaxter March 14, 2013 at 8:31 am

Have fun! HomeGoods shopping is the best!

Erin @ How to Nest for Less March 14, 2013 at 9:04 am

Haha!! Have fun. They have 2 HomeGoods in my town, but both are about a 30 minute drive, yak!! I’m seriously considering putting my house on the market just so I can be a little closer to my shopping haven :)

Well, I can’t wait to read about all your cool finds!

Allison March 14, 2013 at 10:08 am

I moved to Kalamazoo from Ann Arbor 2 years ago and I still cannot believe that we (and especially GR) did not have a Home Goods. I will be there this weekend. Finally!!!!!

Amanda March 14, 2013 at 1:20 pm

I also live in the GR area and am super excited about this! I will definately be there tonight checking it out, along with the new TJ Maxx.

I know exactly how you feel……ours just opened a couple months ago & I coveted the day. However, now I go shopping there & can’t find anything I have to have. Wonder if the thrill is gone because the chase is gone???

Jessica March 14, 2013 at 4:10 pm

Looking forward to checking it out… Will have to have my husband drop me off while he checks out the new Cabela’s in GR … We will both be happy a win -win!

Michele March 14, 2013 at 6:38 pm

Oh I totally understand. Us Canadians have been Target-less for far too long and the grand opening of the stores near me is in April. I can’t wait!!

JaneEllen March 14, 2013 at 11:59 pm

I am so envious, I’d sure love to have a HomeGoods store close to us in Grand Junction, CO. We just got a TJMaxx a few months ago. We don’t have an IKEA or any of the stores I read about all the time. I think the only good thing I can say about G.J. is we have Michaels, JoAnn’s and Hobby lobby. I used to live in San Diego area so was spoiled having so many great stores. When we moved to Helena, MT area they had a Kmart, Gibsons and the mall, that was it. Believe me it took adjusting to after San Diego. We lived about 32 miles from Helena also. You do learn to adjust but it was hard the first couple years. Enjoy your new HomeGoods store girls. Happy Days. I’ll be looking forward to hearing about all the great goodies you bought.

I live in the GR area as well, and had heard rumors about Home Goods, Trader Joe’s and another store (I can’t remember the name of) opening here. I sure didn’t realize it was opening this soon or where it was going to be located. I can’t wait to read your posts of things you find there.

Now, if we could just get an IKEA……

Chris March 15, 2013 at 8:27 pm

You took the words RIGHT out of my mouth. Ikea is next on my list. PLEASE! I’d never have to leave town again. :)

Sarena Joy March 15, 2013 at 11:31 am

I was there yesterday at the Grand Opening too!! Maybe I saw you there….I don’t know! I was just so busy looking at everything that I didn’t notice. It was sooooo crowded! People grabbing this & that! LOL! I only ended up w/ 2 pillows! (can you believe that?!?) Saw a ton of stuff I liked & would have like to have purchased more but the pocket book is short on funds! Will have to wait till next time I guess! But oh so glad HomeGoods is finally here!!! YIPPEE!!!

Chris March 15, 2013 at 8:26 pm

We could have been standing in line together! :) So much fun, wasn’t it? I’m going back tomorrow morning. Does that make me weird?

HomeGoods Insider March 15, 2013 at 1:36 pm

Hi Chris, your post made us smile! Hope your shopping trip lived up to your expectations. We are so appreciative of the warm, happy welcome we received in Grand Rapids. Your friends at HomeGoods

Chris March 15, 2013 at 8:26 pm

Highlight of my day, Homegoods! Thanks so much for stopping by! I have loved HG for years, and it was THE moment I’ve waited for for a long time! Thanks again!

Kathi March 15, 2013 at 2:33 pm

Have been going to Canton for years to go Home Goods. So thrilled about the location in GR! And, even though I moved away years ago to Portage, I visit my Mom every other weekend, so here I come! Hope the car is big enough……..all I can say is, it’s about time!

Robin D March 16, 2013 at 12:52 pm

I was not disappointed with my little trip to HomeGoods yesterday…might go back and get one more thing.

So happy to have another home decor option in town. Now for Whole Foods and Trader Joes. Yes my fingers are crossed and I am holding my breath, so they better hurry up :D

Kristin M March 16, 2013 at 9:09 pm

I live closer to the lake and trekked it out to the grand opening and left empty handed! The line was 45min long to check out! I am hoping it calms down soon b/c I did not get my fix!

Connie Lenden March 17, 2013 at 3:30 pm

Hi Chris – I thought you would still be there. Have one about 20 minutes away and LOVE it!
Shop away and have fun !!

Cindy March 24, 2013 at 1:24 pm

I totally get it. I am lucky to have a HomeGoods right down the street from me. Kirklands just opened up too. What have I been waiting for? IKEA is coming to Kansas City in Fall 2014!!
