Hallo Hallo Hallo-ween Y’all!

by Chris on October 5, 2010

Okay, I get it. Enough with the mantel already. But I’m done. You need to know!

I decided to go with the black and cream theme (rhyme!) this year, but I just couldn’t get it the way I wanted it.

I remembered the ol’ scrapbook paper trick I did a couple years ago, and I knew I had just the paper for it. I simply taped it in the back.

Yup. Lovin’ the height it needed.

I found this little witch in the costume department at Target. I think she was only $5.00, but knowing how I feel about witches, she was just the treat my mantel needed! Oh..I took off the ribbon she was hanging from and hot glued her onto some scrapbook paper.

What really makes my mantel stick out from all those “normal” ones is the fact that mine comes with its very own body. Bet yours doesn’t.
Halloween Mantel

Orrrr just a really tired 8-year old who stayed up too late at her friend’s house.  While the picture quality suffers greatly when it’s gloomy out, it certainly affords some spooky mantel time for me. This is my favorite time to revel in the Halloweeniness. (Yes. Made it up.)halloween mantel

For a fun (and relatable) read, go visit Beth’s take on her Halloween mantel. It’s just one more reason I love blogging. We’re states away from each other, we’ve never even met, yet we’re sharing ideas and BFF’ing it up!

It looks great! The balance between all the elements is perfect. I love that giant witch against the fireplace!

It is fun AND looks great which can be hard to achieve. Great idea to use the scrapbook paper behind the witch! :)

You crack me up! Love all your new words and how you acquired a new BFF! The mantel looks perfect…leave it alone now! It can't get any better than what it is now.

Love it, way to go! I especially love the witch you glued to paper..very clever!! Looks like something Pier 1 would charge $40 for, at least.

Kate @ Chic on a Shoestring Decorating October 5, 2010 at 2:43 am

Cute! I love the little witch from Target on scrapbook paper, that turned out great. I did black & cream theme on my mantel too! Fun but still looks chic… Stop by sometime and check it out. :)

Hi Chris. Everything looks just perfect. I love your style. I'm crazy about the big spider piece. Did you make that yourself? Great execution of design.

Hugs…Tracy :)

Love it! Two of my FAVORITE blogs decorating together. They both look fabulous and make me want to re-do mine. Ya know…so I can be part of the "in" crowd. :)

I love the colors and what you used. I wish you could come help me with my mantles! I struggle with them and height of what I am using.

Beth@The Stories of A2Z October 5, 2010 at 1:56 pm

I love it (as you well know). However, I think I now need a small child passed out in front of my mantel to fully complete my copycat-look! I have just the child in mind for the job. :) Love you girl!

Liz October 5, 2010 at 2:20 pm

Oooooww I love it!

Cheryl October 5, 2010 at 3:57 pm

stop it already, would you??? :) I'm loving the candles, so much! You're good at mantels. I wouldn't say it's my strong point, I always struggle a bit. I always love the things you pull together!

Sarah - Citified Country Girl October 6, 2010 at 5:28 pm

Your mantel looks great, very festive!

Barb October 7, 2010 at 1:33 am

Really great turn out. Don't know how you go from it's great to it's even greater. Really like it alot. Your scale it perfect and I love your Hallo-weenie framed items. So unique. I checked out BFF Beth. I thought I was looking @ one of your own home redo's! Copying is such a compliment.

Your mantel is great. I like the use of scrapbook paper. My favorite is your sitting pumpkin person.

Thanks for the great ideas! I needed some Halloweeny inspiration today too, just about the head to the garage and pull my stuff out!

Midwest Mama October 13, 2010 at 2:07 am

That is so beautiful. Love the scrapebook paper ideas. The black and white theme is very elegant.

Kim @ Starshine Chic October 13, 2010 at 11:48 pm

I love your mantel. I love how scrap book paper can make stuff look so much better. I wanted to get one of those witches from Target but I didn't. Now that I've seen what you did with yours, I might just have to rethink my decision on passing it up.

Michelle October 16, 2010 at 6:52 am

Wow, I LOVE it. I love the black and white theme!
