Changes and Appreciation

by Chris on January 13, 2012

You may have noticed that I have decided to let go of Show and Share Day. My apologies. It wasn’t intended initially, but I started to enjoy that I didn’t have to worry about doing it on Thursday night. I didn’t feel like I was able to do the participants justice, and it was getting to be more work than I needed.

SaS Day required the most work on the weekends, and that’s the only time I have away from my career. It just makes sense to let it go. I apologize, but I hope you understand. This allows me to blog about various things on Fridays, and I’m pretty excited about that!

That being said, I want to take a moment to thank some people who mean a lot to me and a lot to this blog!

If it weren’t for Danielle, this blog would be a blank slate. That girl has an eye for what’s beautiful, and I can’t recommend her enough!                             Evenpar Solutions

Tony is what I call “the fixer”. I would literally be lost without him. Our conversations usually go as follows:

Tony: “Hi, Chris. I notice that so-and-so problem is on your blog. Want me to fix it?”

Me: “Oh that’s ok! I can just fix it myself.”

Tony: “Hi, Chris. I notice that you didn’t fix the problem, so I went and fixed it for you!”

Me:  “Me dumb. You smart. Thank you!”

If you haven’t visited, Say it on the Wall, you must. Now. Laura offers vinyl options for your home, and I love the selection she has! It’s like no other. Go see for yourself.

Say It On the Wall

Mah friiiieeeend Shaunna (that’s me imitating her accent) is brilliant at refinishing furniture. The girl has a magic wand when she paints something, and she offers this fanTAStic e-book for you to learn from her. I refer to it often. Plus, she just so darn nice! Love her!

I just love my Silhouette. What you may not know is that I use it for the most random things. I think people assume they have to be a crafter to need one of these, but I use it for all over the house. Labels, gift wrap, storage bins, organizing—you name it. SO glad I have one!

Silhouette Electronic Cutting Tool

And finally, the Canvas People offer such awesome deals on photos to canvas, that I’m glad to have them on JaG. I used them for my son’s baseball canvas, and his friends always comment on it. Can’t beat a great deal for a great product!

And of course, thank YOU for sticking with me on this and letting me take a moment to show my appreciation for my advertisers! I hope you’ll visit them!

Hi Chris! Good for you! I totally support your decision because family should always come first! I will miss your party but I think weekend time is family time and that’s very important. Good for you for recognizing what you could let go of and what you could keep and how your life could be better! Happy New Year! Angie xo

Thank you so much, Angie. I was pretty worried that people would be upset that I’m not consistent with it. But you’re right–I had to recognize that something needed to go. People won’t even miss it. :)

Hey Chris,

I have to admit, you are 1 of 3 blogs I treat myself to every Friday along with Shabby Nest and Conversion Diary. I love your blog, your style, your great photos and your projects. I have noticed that most of the people who link to SAS also link to Shabby Nest so I think if you use the time to highlight your own projects or chill with the family, it’s a great move. Maybe you can do a special linky party every once in a while. Regardless, I’ll still be checking in. When one door closes, another one opens wide!

Chris January 13, 2012 at 7:17 pm

Gosh, Beth, you couldn’t have said it better. It’s a tricky move trying to please everyone, so it was a worry for me. But you’re right–lots of places for people to link up. I will also do more specific parties in the future…just not every week. 1 of 3 blogs? You’re disciplined! Thanks again, Beth.

Oh please don’t apologize – your blog is amazing and it will still be just as amazing without SAS! Try to enjoy the time with your family on the weekends – they end too quickly!!

Shaunna January 13, 2012 at 9:05 pm

Whhhyyyyy, thank you, daaahhlin. :-D Love you too, you big goober.

I just laughed out loud, and my husband was curious. Of course, he doesn’t get it ’cause he hasn’t heard that charming accent of yours. Love you, lady!

As a working mom and blogger, I can 100% understand where you’re coming from! Don’t feel bad about letting go of SAS for a minute! We’re all around for the long haul :) Enjoy every spare moment with your family and kiddos. They’re not young forever and you need to cherish these times. I can’t wait to see what you have up your sleeves in 2012!!

Hayley January 14, 2012 at 2:10 pm

I will miss the SAS, but I totally understand! Family and life always come first! We will all be reading your blog regardless!

Chris January 14, 2012 at 4:02 pm

Thank you so much, Hayley! That’s quite the relief! Thank you for taking a moment to encourage!

The Southern Product Queen January 15, 2012 at 10:33 am

I love your blog, and I wanted to let you know about this new blog I just started called It’s one big linky party with tons of options and categories to link up your blog and as many posts as you want! I just launched it last night, and would love for you to be apart of it! Thank you so much! If there is anything I could help you with anytime just let me know! Oh yeah… There is a really cool feature on it too! Each week there will be a featured blogger for each category! The blog with the most clicks gets featured! And each linky party will start over at the beginning of each month, so everyone can get a chance to be the first to link up. Thank you so much!

Catherine January 19, 2012 at 8:47 pm

I hear you!! Don’t worry about making a decision that is best for you and your family. I teach too, and it is crazy (just finished marking, report card marks, etc….). Your blog will still be wonderful and will be better for you from now on. Enjoy your weekends (if you aren’t marking!).
