Tuesday Traveler: Austria

Whoops. You really should be used to this by now. I start a series, and then I sporadically follow it. If nothing else, I always have the element of surprise, eh? Well alright. In case you forgot, so far we've traveled to Amsterdam, Heidelberg, and Munich. And next up? Austria. This is the point in my trip that I thought, 'I'm pretty sure I'm gonna spend some money over here." And spend money, I … [Read more...]

Someone Stop Me

The last several days have been an absolute whirlwind for me, so I thought I should check in to let you know I'm still around! Last weekend, I flew down to Nashville to spend time with my Haven team. Did I want to travel on my two days off? No. Are these girls worth it? Yup!  I'm almost embarrassed to even show you the pictures I took over the weekend. They are completely random, and they're all … [Read more...]

Tuesday Traveler: Munich, Germany

It's 11:57pm on Tuesday. That qualifies as making it if you start writing the post on the due date, right? If you haven't been living under a rock, you know it's Haven week around here. For me, this means waiting until the last minute to get anything done, then panicking and staying up late the night before I have to leave for the airport. So let's take a step back to Europe and take in Munich for … [Read more...]

Replacing DIY with NYC

How in the world does one wrap up a whirlwind tour of New York City in just a few pictures? Well, I chose some highlights from the trip, and I chose highlights of those highlights. You with me? Here’s a list of favorites. #1. Spending some quality time with my brother. We talked for hours and came pretty darn close to solving all of life’s problems. And we sure did laugh a lot! #2. … [Read more...]

New York Getaway

A few days ago, my brother (who lives in California) called me and said, “Hey, I’m in New York for a few weeks for work. Why don’t you get a plane ticket and come visit me?” My non-thinking self: “Heck yeah! I’ll be there in ten minutes!” My thinking (and true) self: “I don’t know…” “What if I die in a plane crash?” “Who will take care of my kids?” “Who will make sure they wear clothes that … [Read more...]

Florida House Tour

When I returned from Florida, I told you that I’d have a couple of house tours for you. If you’re anything like me (and let’s face it, I know you are), you like to see how other people live! Our “home away from home” was at my best friend’s masculine pad in Naples.   All the paint colors in the home were from the previous owners, but his furniture fit so well in it. He would … [Read more...]

The Trip: Part 1

I know. It’s never a good thing when a vacation post is titled “Part 1.” I’ve been living out of a suitcase (a carry-on, mind you!) for 14 days. You’re just gonna have to bare with me on this one. Plus, I promise a couple of good house tours! Here we go… Day 1:      (Awww…them’s just jokes. I won’t torture you that much.) In case you didn’t know, we went to Naples, Florida to visit this … [Read more...]

We’re off. We’re headed to Florida to visit my best friend, and we are ALL excited about the much-needed time together. I’m looking forward to pedicures and shopping, my husband’s looking forward to golfing, and my kids can’t wait to get on an airplane. Ahhh…kids. So…today I am busy doing a LOT of this. And yes, I stop short of packing for my husband. He can handle it. In between laundry … [Read more...]

We’re Off!

I’m going camping. I don’t camp. I don’t like to camp. I don’t want to camp. But…I’m camping. In a tent. I had these grand plans of writing posts ahead of time, so you wouldn’t even notice I was gone.  Alas, you get stuck with a picture of our destination and some final complaints about the trip. I’ll be back in a few days!  Enjoy your nice comfy beds and your central air.  … [Read more...]

Disney Bound

Apparently, my Christmas gift this year is a broken laptop. So, I blog from my mom's house. Tomorrow afternoon we are headed here. I'll be away from the computer until after the new year, but I'm sure I'll have plenty of stories of kids fighting in the car, standing in line for hours, and throwing up on Space Mountain.I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed New Year! I'll be … [Read more...]

On Golden Pond

We just returned from a long weekend up north.  One of my friends just told me that out-of-staters don’t know what “up north” means.  Basically, when you go to any northern part in the state of Michigan, it’s called “up north”.  Maybe I’m not sure what she means by that… Anyway, we stayed at my friend’s cottage.  When we got there, I knew immediately it wasn’t your “average” … [Read more...]

Mailbox Ideas

A couple of things I forgot to tell you in yesterday’s post. 1.  I spent the majority of my vacation in Naples.  (My best friend lives there.) However, we traveled to Siesta Key, Fort Myers, and Sanabel. 2.  I did wear sunscreen.  I started with a 30 (only for 45 minutes) and then wore a protective 50.  Still burned.  Go figure. One of my favorite parts of my trip was traveling through … [Read more...]

Good Intentions…

HI!  I’m back.  Florida sun, sleeping in, going out to eat for every meal…be gone!  Back to reality for me.  I just walked in, and I have about 37 loads of laundry to do.  Until I get back on track, I thought I’d let you see how to spend the perfect afternoon alone in Florida. Step 1:  Pack yourself a goody bag.  By goodies, I mean some good music, something … [Read more...]

Guess Who’s Back?!

We survived! I don't even know where to begin. I will say that this won't be much of a post. Consider this an introduction of sorts. I got lots to say, but I got lots of laundry! I have a huge travel tip for you. Clean your house before you go! How nice it was to come home knowing I have NO sheets to wash, no dishes to do, and no tubs to scrub. There IS still that laundry...but not too much of it, … [Read more...]
