Home Tour

I’ve been trying to get some things updated around JaG, and I finally put some pictures up in the “Our Home” page. I love to be able to discern someone’s style through pictures of their home, and it can be difficult to find those if they’re not in one place. So….now they’re in one place.                             Before                                                       After It’s … [Read more...]

Girly Room Updates

Ummm hello. I could give you a list of what’s kept me away lately, but let’s just say that two of them are this here blog and strep throat. Neither of which has allowed me much spare time this week. However, I did get a fun package in the mail this week, so I thought I’d show you some updates I made to my daughter’s room. After seeing all the work that recently went into my son’s room, I think … [Read more...]

Some Bedroom Updates

When I first showed you my son’s room, I tried to explain that it wasn’t finished. Well, it’s still not finished. However, it is a couple of steps closer. Because I chose an industrial look in here, it definitely limits the color implementation in the room. I thought a powerful rug would help with that. I figured it might be nearly impossible to find an orange, gray and brown rug, but … [Read more...]

House Goals

Nester is having a House Goals party, and it was just what I needed to start mapping out my plan for 2012. Since this post alone took me about three hours to write, I can only imagine how long the projects themselves will take. We’ll see. 1. That darn master bedroom. It’s a thorn in my side. I don’t spend a lot of time worrying about it simply because we don’t have guests up there. (This is … [Read more...]

Winter Decorating

As much as I love Christmas, I sure do love how clean the house looks after all the decorations are gone. However, it can lead to a dilemma. How do you decorate? What do you use if you like to add decor to match the season? Well, if you live in Michigan you just decorate your house with tons of snow. And air conditioners. If you’d rather not be that drastic, might I recommend just using a lot … [Read more...]

Entry Wreath

Tree Classics sent me this wreath a couple of weeks ago (can you ever have too many wreaths?), and it is gawgeous! It’s 34 inches of beauty, I tell ya. While I wouldn’t normally put a wreath of this size on my door (wouldn’t I?), I was in desperate need for something for my entry this year. I’ve spoken before about how my home sits off the road quite a bit, and that plays a role in how I … [Read more...]

Christmas Garland

Christmas garland

I did something a little differently this year. I decided to forego all of my smaller decorations throughout the house and focus solely on greenery. Oh Mylanta, what a breath of fresh air that has been!  I’ll have to show you what that meant for me next week, but here’s just a sampling. I wanted to bring the natural colors from the Christmas tree into the foyer. However, since the foyer … [Read more...]

Tween Bedroom {boys room}

boys bedroom

Awww…you’ve waited long enough. I’m just too busy to finish it all for a “final” reveal. Looks like it’s gonna have to be in stages. You ok with that? Figured as much. So this part’s done! Do you want to see what it looked like before? It was perfect…for a younger boy. My tween was starting to like “edgy-er” things, so it just wasn’t suiting him anymore. With the darker colors, the … [Read more...]

A New Table

I decided to spruce up my living room just a bit, and it started with the curtains I made. It gave me a color base for the direction I wanted to go in, and I’ve been bouncing off that for everything else. The next step? Some new accent pieces. I found this table a few weeks ago, and I knew it was meant to be.  Sure is pretty, eh? It’s the Vance Accent Table, and I found it here. I had a 25% … [Read more...]

Show and Share Day and Progress

Well, they’re progress pictures, but they’re at night. That’s about what you’re gonna get until I can figure out how to get something done before 9:00 around here. You’ve asked about the pallets, and I imagine this will give you an idea of what we’re doing. My son is in his “tween” phase, and his room needed to catch up with him a bit. We are both excited to see it transform. After picking … [Read more...]

Tablecloth Curtains?

Yes. Yes, you can. Remember when I put out the plea for the matching tablecloth that I purchased for $12.00? Well, here's why. It wasn't for two tables. :) I did not want to sew these, but it was a must. In order for them to hang the way I wanted, nothing else was going to work. These are in the most visible room of our house, so I needed to step it up. Just a notch. So, I started by … [Read more...]

Alack! Alack!

That’s a little ode to Romeo and Juliet for ya. Again with having to explain the titles. Guess I’d better not quit my day job. Back to the title…I bought Ikea’s Lack shelves (noooowwww you get it) several months ago, and I finally got hubby to hang them up.   My husband has no comprehension of “good light” and “prime picture time”, so he decided to hang these at night. Great. Nothing my … [Read more...]

Ceiling Fan, Be Gone!

I believe I’ve told you before that I’m not a fan of ceiling fans. Get it? Fan of a fan? I also believe that when I told you that, I used the same joke. Never gets old, people. It’s not that I think all ceiling fans are ugly or that they’re not needed in some situations. They’re just not. for. me. I had this fan installed when we built this house for our guestroom, and I’ve hated since the … [Read more...]

The Dainty Desk

So I specifically bought my daughter the hutch with the secret desk in it because I knew she would fall madly in love. What I wasn’t prepared for was how difficult it would be to find a bench to fit under it. They were all too short. So…we waited. I finally found this one for $11.00 at a consignment store. The only problem? It’s not necessarily JaG daughter material. No offense, little bench. … [Read more...]

Just a little 4th

Every year, I pull out my trusty American flag for some Independence Day decor. I love it, and it certainly makes a statement.  Two years ago (yep-two years), I bought some 4th of July fabric to coordinate within the room. Well, in that two year procrastination-fest, I figured out how to make pillows without actually sewing them.  Now that I’m a no-sewer (that reads so-er, not … [Read more...]
