Tweaked Table

Aside from working, planning for Haven, going to softball games, wrestling meets, blah, blah, blah…I’ve been trying to get our living room updated a bit. After finally finding the sectional, it just seemed like such a blank space behind it. It needed something. I quickly found the perfect table (that never happens). It’s the Safavieh Simon Natural Table. It was the perfect size, and I … [Read more...]

A New Sectional

It’s been a long time comin’, but after years of waiting, we finally got our sectional. If you remember (or don’t), I was about to purchase it TWO years ago when Maximus had a close visit with the grim reaper. Well, one thing after another got in the way of getting it, but it is now ours.  Two things I know about myself—1. If there’s a more expensive option to purchase something, I will find a … [Read more...]

Perfume Storage

Remember when I built these bookshelves for my daughter? Ohhhh come on…you remember…these? Well, my baby is growing up. She no longer reads “kid books, mom” and all her books are now digital. Picture my lip quivering and a tear strolling down my cheek. Well, the shelves still had plenty of good life in them, so I changed them over to fit my growing girl’s needs. As in... Perfume? … [Read more...]

I got home from work on Friday and … [Read more...]

Christmas Porch

We finally had our first snow day of the school year. I say finally because in one month, we've had 25 inches of snow. Needless to say, I was ready. This gave me some extra time to actually get outside and photograph our front porch. I impaled my ankle with some ice, and I froze my fingers to the bone. This is what I do for you. It's quite the classic house, so I keep it pretty standard. As much … [Read more...]

As I said earlier, I'm playing the tourist right now in Europe. Thankfully, I have some wonderful and equally talented blog friends who are here to share some things with you. My first friend is one of my favorite people! She's gorgeous (read: I'm the ugly friend in this relationship) and extremely funny. And let's not forget the girl knows her way with decorating! Take it away, … [Read more...]

Mudroom Cubbies

Winter in Michigan requires a LOT of gear. And all that stuff inevitably gets piled up in the mudroom. I had these cabinets custom built a couple of years ago, and they've been a game-changer. However, the measurements of the cubbies were impossible to find baskets or bins to place in there. And I mean impossible. So this is how it has looked for way too long. Enter stage right: Target. Of … [Read more...]

Extending Cabinets to Ceiling

The laundry room remodel is moving along slowly but surely. Actually, more slowly than surely. It took me an eternity to find the right wall color, but I think I've found it! I thought I'd show you how we extended the cabinets to the ceiling to elongate the room a little bit. We went pretty standard in this room 'cause well…it's a laundry room. However, the more time I spent in there, the more I … [Read more...]

Flooring Woes

I don't even know where to begin with this one. Remember when Maximus almost died, and I was all, "Oh…that's sad. I'm so glad he's alive!"? So that wiped out our bank account. Yay. And then remember when my dining room looked like this?  Welp. Now it looks like this. I'll give you one guess who did it. His name starts with N and ends with Emesis. Long story short, he developed a bladder … [Read more...]

Gallery Wall

I’ve been working on some revamps in our mudroom. You know how I love my neutrals, but it was starting to look a little bland. Family pictures all over the house just aren’t my thing. I’d rather have a conversation piece as opposed to clutterey picture frames everywhere. Make sense? Probably not. The space started like this. If you’ll notice, I taped off where the corner boot bench will go. I … [Read more...]

Ikea Butcher Block Countertop {giveaway winner announced}

Long title, eh? It kind of matches the process of this laundry room transformation. Baby steps. Soooo we started with the DIY pedestals. It was a priority for me, so we knocked it out first. Let me tell ya—still in love. We had inexpensive laminate installed when we built. The ol’ “It’s just a laundry room” argument. Well, I was over it. I drove two long hours to our “local” Ikea and purchased … [Read more...]

Wow. Thank you so much for all your help/advice/guidance with my sectional woes the other day. Luckily, I believe this story has a happy ending! I believe I have found “the one”. I’ll get back soon when I’m sure. I don’t do a ton of giveaways because I want to make sure that you’re getting something good when I do. Well, today you’re getting something good. I have shopped at Kirkland’s for … [Read more...]

A Gallery of In-Betweens

I have ADD. Granted, it’s self-diagnosed ADD, but my mom agrees with me. So it must be true, right? Like a song writer who wakes up in the middle of the night to write down song lyrics, I have ideas swirling in my head day and night. A blessing AND a curse. I start in on something, and if my husband waits too long to help me with one little element of it, I’m moving on to another project. … [Read more...]
