Mother’s Day with Groupon

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Groupon. All opinions are 100% mine. The day is coming! THEE day. The one day where I can--and do--say no to any chores asked of me or any questions that come my way. Nothing says Mother's Day more than giving up any said motherly obligations. It's bliss really. I start planning what I would like for Mother's Day the day after Mother's Day … [Read more...]

Care Package Idea

My best friend is going through some stuff right now, and he lives far away. Nothing more frustrating than a friend in need when you can’t physically be there, eh? So I sent a care package to make him (and me) feel better. I think a care package is pretty personal, so it’s not like I can tell you exactly what to put in one. I chose candy (duh), some of his favorite vices (celebrity magazines), … [Read more...]

Mother’s Day Ideas

It's fast approaching, folks. For many of us, Mother's Day is that one acknowledgment we get (not that we'd ever need more!) for working so hard all year long. I have high expectations every year, and every year my husband has to run out Sunday morning for "an errand". Ugh. If your husband (or kids) are anything like mine, perhaps they need a little help in the gift area. Our celebrations range … [Read more...]

Letter on Canvas {GeeZees Canvas}

Sooo I don’t talk about this very much (ever?), but I lost my dad to diabetes over 11 years ago. It was the first loss I had ever experienced, and it was life-changing. My dad wasn’t the most verbally expressive man, but when I graduated from college, he wrote me a letter (two sides!) telling me how much he loved me and how proud of me he was. Needless to say, it is my most prized … [Read more...]

HomeGoods Loot

I almost titled this “Booty”, but I started to imagine the searches it would get. Darn. So…I’m back. We went back home this weekend, and it was chuck-full of busyness! We started out with the Warrior Dash. For some reason, the more mud and the more obstacles my husband can find, the happier he is. This is his third of five races this year, so I went to complain about how bad it smelled show my … [Read more...]

I Have a Teenager

Clearly, I don’t look nearly old enough to have a 13-year old, but I do. Most (none?) of you will ever meet him, but here are a couple of things I know about my son. He is amazingly patient, and kind, and tolerant, and protective of his sister. (He’s carrying her shoes. Really?) He loves all kinds of creatures—critters, bugs, snakes, etc. He has saved my life no less than 20 times … [Read more...]

Happy Mother’s Day

I am thankful for my mom for providing me with the most wonderful childhood I could have hoped for. And I’m thankful for my children for making even the most difficult moments of motherhood totally worth it!! Happy Mother’s Day!!!!!!! … [Read more...]

Where I be?

I know. A month was a long time to be gone. But there is no way I can possibly thank my guest posters enough. They all have their busy lives, yet they all stepped in to help me in my time of need. How spectacular is that? It’s humbling. I’ll tell you that much. Thank you, my friends! It started out that I just needed a break. I knew April was going to be particularly busy for me (work, … [Read more...]

Best Family Christmas Movies

If you remember, Part 1 of this post was for adults. When reading your comments, it was very difficult not to agree with you on some of your picks. However, I knew I had to reserve the “reveal” of those favorites in this post. Shall we begin? Yes, we shall. #9. (First of all, who starts with 9?) Rudolph. If you are anywhere near my age (you know, like 23), this was thee show to watch when we were … [Read more...]

Christmas Tree Shopping in Michigan

Our summers are hot and muggy and our winters cold and snow-covered. However, there is that window of time in which I’m particularly thankful to live here. You know that scene in When Harry Met Sally  when they go to the Christmas tree place to find a tree? Yeah, I love that scene. But…I’m so glad that’s not me.  Every Saturday after Thanksgiving we go to our local tree farm and find our tree. … [Read more...]

Halloween Hoopla

Sugar coma? Walking for miles from house to house? Entertaining a bunch of kids with pizza and candy? Whatever it was, it made me tired. But how could I go without showing you this? As my husband says, “Enjoy that dress now ‘cause you won’t wear another one for 30 years.” But she sho’ is cute, no? My son? Uhhh….he’s uhhh… It’s a Morph suit. It was expensive (great), and it was sold … [Read more...]

Happy Anniversary

We made it. One more year. 16 to be exact. While most of our pictures consist of kids and school functions and…that dog, I was able to find a few of just us. Through good times and bad (and mud-covered), we’ve stayed together. Marriage sure isn’t easy, but it’s just a little easier when you’re married to this guy. Have a great weekend! … [Read more...]

Healing Field

On Sunday, we took our son to see the Healing Field in my town (have I told you how much I love my town?) to commemorate those who perished on 9/11.        While I wasn’t planning on writing a post on it, I was so impressed and overwhelmed by it all that I had to share. 3,200 perfectly aligned flags standing 8 feet tall represented each individual.  Of course, each flag had a tag to … [Read more...]

Florida House Tour

When I returned from Florida, I told you that I’d have a couple of house tours for you. If you’re anything like me (and let’s face it, I know you are), you like to see how other people live! Our “home away from home” was at my best friend’s masculine pad in Naples.   All the paint colors in the home were from the previous owners, but his furniture fit so well in it. He would … [Read more...]

Just a Little Somethin

I always struggle with personal stuff on here. It’s generally a decorating blog, but… A couple of weeks ago, I took my daughter to her first concert.  We literally just walked in the door from Florida, and we were both exhausted. But for Taylor Swift? We pushed through.     I could go on and on about how our girls emulate the wrong images today and how we have to be very careful about what our … [Read more...]
