Laundry Room Mood Board

Laundry room mood board

Woops. Did the weekend end already? Sorry about that. I found myself telling someone the other day that this is a busy time of year for me. I then realized that I say that about six times a year. I should probably come to terms with the fact that I’m just busy. I’ve got parent/teacher conferences coming up next week, so that kind of keeps me from tackling any big projects around the house. … [Read more...]

House Goals

Nester is having a House Goals party, and it was just what I needed to start mapping out my plan for 2012. Since this post alone took me about three hours to write, I can only imagine how long the projects themselves will take. We’ll see. 1. That darn master bedroom. It’s a thorn in my side. I don’t spend a lot of time worrying about it simply because we don’t have guests up there. (This is … [Read more...]

Good Mood Board: Living Room

Cassity at Remodelaholic asked me to be a part of a series where we get to design our ideal living room and share it with others. Uh…ok! Which one of us doesn’t sit around and daydream about this exact thing every single day anyway? Admittedly, after looking at the list, I realized something. I don’t belong. Talented bloggers here, no? So here’s my room. I’m pretty much madly in … [Read more...]

Pre-Pinterest Picture Post

Ahhhhh, Pinterest. How I love thee. But here’s the problem. How do I pin pictures that I found months/years ago that are in my files? I put them in a post. That’s how. It’s not illegal to do that, is it? Edited: Pinterest now has an option where you can upload pictures from your files. YIPPEE! If nothing else, I thought it might be fun to share some of my inspiration files with you. And … [Read more...]

SAS Day and a Dreamy Kitchen

I pretty much fell on this kitchen remodel tonight, and it just had to be shared. It moved me, simply put. See the befores… Are you prepared for the after?  Yeah well, I wasn’t so I had to check. Here you go. There’s a couple of reasons I’m so madly in love. #1. The white. You know how much I love white. #2. It actually looks like a realistic home. I’ve never been so in love … [Read more...]

Dear Home Goods,

I’ve thought long and hard about how to approach this issue with you.  I live 98.22 miles away from your closest store.  I’ll give you a moment to consider what that means for me. Flickr Basically, I’m tired. Tired of wishing that I could brag to the world about your delightful lighting section, and exhausted at the thought of having to live yet another day without every. single. one. … [Read more...]

Mom’s Landscaping

We went home this weekend to visit one of the loves of my life.  My grandfather.  My grandmother was recently put into a nursing home (heartbreaking), and a visit home is always a good fix for me when I’m feeling sad about their aging. Of course, another good fix is staying at my mom’s.  While I always knew I was growing up in a beautiful, well-appreciated home, it wasn’t until I became an … [Read more...]

Hi.  My name is Chris, and I’m a blog abandoner.  (“Hi Chris” says the supportive crowd.)  If it helps at all, I took today off work just to mop my floors.  I ended up going to breakfast and Joann’s with my husband.  I know.  I have issues. The winner of the FREE Misikko straightener is…. Sawdust and Paper Scraps   The winner of the free art piece from … [Read more...]

How I Met My House

AnNicole is having a party!  Well, she HAD a party.  Thanks to my husband taking the computer to work for the past two days, I’m late.  Again. I actually met my house back in 1991--13 years before I moved into it.  Does this look familiar?  I saw Father of the Bride, and I remember being glued to the movie screen. I was only a senior in high school, but I knew at that … [Read more...]

Window Box Tour

I know.  I’ve posted about window boxes before.  I just can’t help myself!  I’m in love with them, but I simply can’t bring myself (or my wallet) to pay the hefty prices I’ve seen them for. It seems like window boxes are such “the norm” in other countries or other parts of the nation for that matter, but I wish they were used more around me.  I think they can make a world … [Read more...]

Green, O’ Green

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, I thought I'd share some green inspiration.  HGTV's "green" home kitchen is one of my all time favorites.  I love the way it's set up for entertaining.  Don't even get me started on the butler's pantry behind it!Speaking of butler's pantries....I love every inch of this picture.  The green drapes are my favorite! At this point, I imagine you know … [Read more...]

Staring at Stairs

My friend Beth is having a big ol’ party.  We’re talking “call the cops and get these hoodlums outta here” party.  Okay, fine.  I regret to inform you that I’m just not cool enough to be invited to one of those parties.  I’m also going out on a limb to say Beth isn’t cool enough to throw one of them.  However, we DO both love staircases!  So as soon as she spread the … [Read more...]

If this isn’t cozy, I don’t know what is…

Well, the Halloween decor is coming down, and I’m moving onto another holiday.  I can only imagine what I was looking for when I found Aunt Ruthie’s site tonight, but I am sooo glad I did. Her house is the epitome of cozy and warm and inviting, and I knew I had to share it with you. She’s got a pretty substantial following, so who knows what rock I’ve been hiding under!   Yes.  … [Read more...]

Halloween Inspiration

I sat here forever coming up with that title.  Catchy, no?  Here’s the deal.  I just can’t craft/renovate/refurbish/sew/decorate like I thought I might be able to.  However, I want to blog.  I want to stay connected.  Hopefully, you won’t mind what I consider some “filler” posts of inspiration.  Basically…I’m showing off what I’ve been drooling over! I have to admit I don’t decorate much … [Read more...]

Brighton Cottage Monday

I was looking back at my numerous posts last week, and I realized I kinda dropped the ball.  Sorry about that.  I’m sure most of you understand the busy-ness that comes with going back to work full-time, but I thought I should acknowledge it.  I’m working on being able to blog and work. :) Tricia at Brighton Cottage sent me some pictures last week, and I nearly fell out of my … [Read more...]
