Woodland Theme Party {Part 3}

Wow. Three posts for one party? Yeah, I hear ya. We’re almost done. You saw how the woodsy table was decorated, and I showed you how I put together a play tent for the girls to hang out in. Now—how to entertain them? I knew the girls would be watching a movie when it came time to settle, so I thought a popcorn bar would be the perfect companion! And it. was. loved. My brother-in-law arrived … [Read more...]

A BOY Teacher Gift?

School. is. out.                              This was me at 6:22 on Friday.                                               This was me at 9:46 on Monday. Our last week of school is always a busy one with graduation, school parties, exams, and open houses. Of course, that includes finding just the right present for our kids’ teachers. August 18th, 2011...Daughter: “Mom, I don’t know how I’m … [Read more...]

The Must List: Tatertots and Jello

Tatertots and Jello Must List

O.M.G. If I could give an award for the nicest blogger in blogland, it would clearly be Jen. Have you ever known someone so nice that you can’t even imagine them with an angry face? Orrr am I the only weirdo who does that? Either way, that’s Jen. So nice, I can’t see her with an angry face. :) I can’t say enough great things about Jen. From her work ethic (think Energizer Bunny) to her … [Read more...]

Kids Thanksgiving Roundup

As a kid, I remember never being too overly excited about Thanksgiving. It’s the one that comes “after the holiday with candy and before the holiday with presents” for kids. Poor Turkey Day. It doesn’t have a chance with little ones. Unless….you have some cute and clever ideas like these. source If you have a bunch of kids at your Thanksgiving festivities, it’s a great idea to have a separate … [Read more...]

Woven Memo Board

I’m getting there. The finishing touches of my son’s room are being put into place, and I should be finished this week. One of those finishing touches is a burlap memo board I spotted on Jones Design Company. I knew this room was the perfect spot for it, so I went to work. Emily really gives a fantastic tutorial on it, so I’ll spare you the same ol’ show. I cut the strips in three inch … [Read more...]

Show and Share Day with Giggled Pink

1. I love the name of this Etsy store. 2. It almost makes me want to have another child. Nope. Nevermind. It doesn’t. 3. One of YOU gets to win something this week! Ashlee is my newest sponsor here, and I was thrilled when she offered up a store credit to one of my readers! I don’t know how she comes up with this stuff, but it is downright adorable! Oh come on. You just can NOT get … [Read more...]

Bat Wreath

A few weeks ago, I made this wreath for a post for the girls at Eighteen25. (Love them!) I was about to write a post saying how lame my Halloween decorations are this year and then I told myself, “Self, don’t ignore the bat wreath. It deserves a little street cred.” Here we go. I hadn’t played around with my Silhouette in a while, so it was the perfect time come up with something. Jumping on … [Read more...]

Sweater Wreath

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of texture. So…I decided to buy a few sweaters at Salvation Army last week to make some things with. Project #1? A wreath. I used a straw wreath that I had on hand, but I would recommend a foam one if you have the choice. Straw worked fine, but the foam would offer a little more structure for you. The sweater was $3.99. It’s the price I’m willing to pay for … [Read more...]

Spooky Wreath

A few years ago (almost exactly!), I bought this grapevine wreath for a $1.99. From this picture, you may notice two things. 1. I actually know how to take pictures now. 2. My floors are pre-Nemesis. Look! No scratches! I spray painted it (of course) and added some plastic spiders to it. Yay me. But then…my husband packed it away in the garage for three years. I totally forgot about it … [Read more...]

Fish Scale Art

A  few weeks ago, I guest posted for Jen at Tatertots and Jello. I showed how to make this project, and I thought you might want to see it too. You know, ‘cause so many of you read my blog that don’t read Jen’s. Joking aside, I thought you might enjoy. For those of you who don’t know me, you should know that I don’t like to spend money. That doesn’t mean I don’t spend money. I just don’t like … [Read more...]

Wood Coasters

Alright, so I like to make coasters. They’re easy, and everybody needs them.  Since we had a new neighbor move in last month, and we’ve got another one moving in next month, there’s no harm in having these around. Right? So…I did what any normal, self-respecting blogger does, and I used free items from a store that rhymes with foam repo. I was scavenging looking around the flooring department, … [Read more...]

I Sewed Something

Sewing Supplies

Yes, I've been away for a few days. Time gets away from ya when you're having fun, I guess. However, things slowed down just long enough for me to once again remind myself how much I suck at sewing. I can do many things. Sewing is not one of them. It all started with a simple pocket calendar. My days are filling up way too fast, and I wanted something to bring with me that would help when … [Read more...]

The Art of the Toilet Paper Roll

Ahhhh….the master bedroom. It has eluded me for years, and I’m still trying to tackle it. It all comes down to one final element—art above our bed. I didn’t want to spend any much money; I was dealing with some difficult dimensions, and I wanted it to be VERY simple. How’s that for easy? Here was my plan of attack--toilet paper or paper towel rolls. I tried using some wrapping paper rolls, but … [Read more...]

Anthropologie Lampshade

Anthropologie lampshade

I’ve been working on re-vamping my master bedroom. So far, it has taken me 7 years. I should be done pretty soon. I purchased a lamp for it, and it has sat on my side table (with the tags still on it!) for two months. I wanted to “fanicify” the shade somehow, and I just couldn’t make up my mind how to do it. But then…I saw this. {$88.00} However, I didn’t really see it until I saw this. That’s … [Read more...]

Brooch Magnets

Some time ago I had written that my grandparents moved in with my mom and told me they wanted me to take anything valuable.  Being the sentimental sap that I am, I quickly took anything and everything that had meaning to me--namely, my grandmother’s brooches. I thought it was such a personal item that I would cherish for years. Her brooches and my grandfather’s collection of fedora hats … [Read more...]
