An Organized Laundry Room

by Chris on August 2, 2010

I’m warning you.  There’s a lot of pictures in this post.  It was a beautiful day, I had the window open in the laundry room (don’t tell my husband—the air was on too), and I was appreciating my newly organized cabinets.

laundry shelves

To be honest, they kind of already looked like this. However, all the turquoise bins used to be yellow.  I was over the yellow. Thank the heavens for spray paint!

laundry organization

I’m pretty sure I’ve declared my love for bins and labels before, before, and before. Oh, and before.  And before.  Gees.

laundry basket

I typed up all my categories on some thick cardstock, punched a hole, and threaded some coordinating ribbon through.  Oh, how I love some cute ribbon.

cute laundry tag

cute laundry

You may see a couple of bins with no label on them.  Everyone stay calm. There is no need for alarm.  I have since labeled them all and everything is right with the world again.

laundry storage

I mean, had I not labeled this basket “cleaners”, no one would ever know that there are, in fact, cleaners in there.  Right?

laundry baskets

All of the bins came from the dollar store—including the yellow change basket below.  He must have been hiding from my spray paint.  I’ll get him.  Don’t you worry.

laundry ideas

When your complexion is so fair that your skin starts to boil within 10 minutes of exposure, and when your backyard is an apartment complex for mosquitoes, you too will have a bin dedicated to summer.  And you still won’t have enough supplies.

organized laundry

Just when I was thinking no one was around to enjoy the fruits of my labor, a friend of mine called and asked if she could do a load of laundry at my house (no joke!—she’s here from out of town). I {gleefully} said yes.  As she was opening the cabinets for the detergent, I was standing there feeling pretty darn cool about myself.

laundry storage ideas

As I walked into the other room, my husband looked at me and said, “You’re feeling pretty darn cool about yourself right now, aren’t you?”  Husbands.

Very nice!!! I love the cool aqua color! I, too, love labels! Makes it sooo easy to put stuff back and for husbands to find things themselves (or one can hope!) I take mine a step further tho-clear contact paper is (one of) my best friends, too! Just adds a little durability and dust protection!

Colleen August 2, 2010 at 12:46 pm

I love your labels! The clear jars with the silver lids are adorable. Where did you find those?

Laurel @ Ducks in a Row August 2, 2010 at 12:51 pm

Bins, labels, towels with the folded edges out . . . . you hit my organizing dreams right on the nail! Looks fantastic.

Kelli @ RTSM August 2, 2010 at 1:07 pm

I am so jealous! My laundry room is way too small which means it is always cluttered! I could use some baskets and labels!

Peggy of Plush Nest August 2, 2010 at 1:08 pm

LOVE LOVE LOVE the color! What spray paint is it? I reminds me of a Tiffany box (kinda a posh way to do laundry, don't you think?)

Oh, I wish I had a bigger laundry room looking at your loving pictures!

But, I do love the dollar store for storage bins…LOVE it. I am heading there today for some, and I can't wait to see what they have.

Love the labels too!

superpaige August 2, 2010 at 2:11 pm

I didn't see any LAUNDRY in your laundry room. You do do laundry in there, right?

I've got to get my laundry room organized and clean this week, but I could never even wish for something as beautiful and organized as that. You're my idol.

Country Dreaming August 2, 2010 at 2:12 pm

I too am in the group with the too small laundry room. I try to keep it as organized as possible and
it stays that way most of the time.
Yours is looking good though.

Oh my! You have just added to my "todo" list…My laundry room looks like a bomb went off in it pretty much on a daily base. Maybe if everything had a bin and was labeled the bomber might not hit that room.
