About JaG
Well, hello.
Ahem. Allow myself to introduce..my..self. My name is Chris! And I’m a blogger! I got into blogging after spending months reading all the inspiration that is found in blogland. I thought to myself, “Self, I can do this. I might have something to offer too!” And so it began.
The title “Just a Girl” was easy for me. I think many women take on many roles nowadays. I’m a wife, a mom, a professional, a student, a friend, and on and on and on. Essentially however, I’m just a girl who loves to create, decorate, and inspire-ate. This blog allows me to share all those things with you. It’s mine. Just for me. And I like it that way.
Joining the land of bloggers is one of the best things I’ve ever done. I’ve met more wonderful people than I ever could have imagined, and I’ve formed friendships I never thought possible. Who knows? Maybe you’re my next best friend! Thanks for coming by!

Thank you for a great site!!!
I lost my grandma over 23 years ago and I still miss her terribly. Thank you for sharing thoughts about your loss. My Grandma lived for 90 1/2 yrs and lived all of those years as a strong, but very loving and kind woman.

I stumbled upon your blog accidentally and I loved it from the first sight. Really great job! I also love the name of the blog, we are all girls, no matter how old
How nice of you, Rich Girl! Thank you so much!
Um, yeah; there seems to be a real lack of readers remarking how hunky your husband is, but maybe they’re just shy. Since you “know” me, I am happy to lay it on the line!
Glad you recognize it, too. My husband is into the Ironman thing, and while I don’t understand why, it leaves him pretty nice to look at. Lucky us, huh?!
Have a great weekend, Chris!

Linda
Linda, that made me laugh! Maybe they can’t see past the mud and missing tooth.
Now if some of my husband’s love of working out could just rub off on me. I think I’ll go hot glue something to make me feel better! Glad to hear from you, Linda! Hope things are going well with you!
Whoops! I meant the above comment for the post about the warrior competition!! You can delete this, as it looks pretty weird here. It had to be said, though!
I just spent waaay too long peeking around your blog – love it!
I had to laugh. If I had a penny for every time I have said “Self…just do it!”
Thanks for the lovely lookiloo!

Hi Chris! I recently have been cooped in my house and staying home from work this week after having foot surgery which has given me the chance to prop my foot up, get out the computer and surf the web for DIY project ideas. I was lucky to find your blog through the “Tip Junkie” blog (which I am loving!) and was linked to your blog when I wanted to find out more ab out the Apologie ruffled lampshade you made. Excellent job on that project and thanks for the inspiration! Plus, I appreciate your humour throughout your posts! Keep up the fab work!

I’m not a blogger but stumbled upon your pages from pintrest. You have incredible work and are simply inspiring! I can not get over the sheer beauty of your home that YOU – YOU did yourself! That’s just blows my mind
I’m going to try out your technique for painting wood on our bathroom vanity. You potentially will be saving us a BUNCH of $$$’s! Thanks so much for sharing your special gifts of d.i.y. decor! We all appreciate you!

Wow. That is such an awesome thing to say, Christin. Thank you so much for giving me the encouragement! And yes…I hope my help is able to save you a bunch of money!
That’s the ultimate goal, right? Thank you again. It certainly doesn’t fall on unappreciative ears.
Dear Chris,
I have been reading your blog for a few days now, and I love your sense of humour!
I love the tips and all the great design ideas! See, I stopped working in February and it took me a while to find all these designing blogs in the internet. But I already have a house full of furniture I can paint (some recent finds on craigslist and some stuff I already had). I was just readimg your tutorial how to paint the console table (the blue one). I also want to paint my front door black and already got the paint name and color you suggested. Anyway, just to say I am getting ready!
Thank you so much for all the inspiration! Claudine
I came across your blog on Pinterest. I had to Subscribe, I justed wanted to write to say I love your Blog.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
Hi Chris, I just stumbled across your site while googling whether I should paint my antique (but desperately in need of updating) dining room furniture black or cream. I have been debating this for months and am still not sure which color. But now that I read how easy it is to paint furniture, I can’t wait to jump in and start! Thanks for all your helpful advice and photos! I will keep you posted on how it turns out. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us!!!
I’ve been following your blog for about 6 months now. Love it! I just realized that you are from MI after reading your xmas tree cutting post (I’m sure it’s come up before and I missed it). Anyhow, I was so excited…like when a kid discovers someone has the same name as them. I am from MI too. I just started writing a blog, but have a long way to go. Still learning. Feel free stop by if you get a spare moment http://www.plumberrypie.blogspot.com . Happy Wednesday! Kim

Hey! I have that same Rat Hat! Got here via Pinterest, I think you’ll be one of my favorite blogs!
Oh I love hearing that Cari! I’d love to be a favorite of yours.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Hey Chris!
You have a beautiful home and a wonderful blog! I just “pinned” some of your paint colors. Wow, choosing colors is overwhelming! Just wanted to say “hi” and virtually introduce myself as I’m a relatively new blogger (but a long time blog lover!!).
Hi Amy! I’m so glad you stopped by so we could “meet”! I appreciate your kind words!
Love your blog. I bookmarked it quite a while ago, but this is the first time I’m actually reading it. tons of fun! Keep up the good work!
Chris its a wonderful blog, its my first time visiting your blog really nice to read, your theme is very nice, keep up the good work
Hi Chris,
I love your blog. I’ve been working up the motivation to start a blog as well. I just wanted to say hello and that seeing your blog and your many great projects has given me some great encouragement to get myself in gear and get going with what I keep saying I’m going to do!
But anyway, I found your blog through a link from someone else’s pinterest linking to your pallet wall project. It is awesome and I can’t wait to have a house one day to do this as well!
Keep up the good work.
Sincerely,
Shannon F.
Thank you so much, Shannon! What a great comment to read! I’m so glad I could provide you with some encouragement, and I hope you love blogging as much as I do if you ever decide to jump in. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Hi Chris! It was so great to meet you at Haven. I loved the whole conference, but the painting workshop taught by you and Kate from Centsational Girl was my favorite! You’re so down to earth and it was a ton of fun!
Chris,
It was so wonderful to meet you at Haven! Your encouraging words meant the world to me. You are inspiring beyond just home decorating/crafts/etc. I can see why you’re a great teacher. Thanks again for your uplifting words!

I’ve been thinking about you ever since, Heidi! I’m so glad we met, and you are so sweet! Again–let me know if you ever need anything!
Hey Chris I tried to send you a private message but it says you are not set up to receive emails. Anyhoo, guess I will do this where everyone can read it :-/ Ok so on another one of your pages you received a comment from a lady named Regina. You hadnt responded to her comment and I found that I too was going through the same frustration that she was going through…so I took it upon myself to reply to her on your blog. And now I’m kinda feeling bad about it. I mean…this IS YOUR wonderfully inspiring, magnificant blog!! lol, Soooo, maybe I shouldn’t reply? I’m so new to this so I’m not sure if that is like a big no no in blogland? Is it? Well, either way, I REALLY hope that I didn’t offend you by doing so!
I LOVE YOUR BLOG! You make me laugh!….had to be said! Have a great Sunday!
Kendra, this made me smile. While I haven’t found the comment your talking about yet, I really appreciate that you were so sensitive about it! It’s hard to keep up with comments, so I’m more than thankful if someone can help out with information!! You’re so sweet for the message here. Thank you!!
I believe it was under your tutorial….I remember seeing a blue table? lol…and fingernails to die for ! Haha! You mentioned that we didn’t need to comment on your nails or something like that! It made me laugh. Idk…I think that’s where it was.
I KNOW you are ever so busy!! But if you get a chance can you check out my blog http://propheticwings.blogspot.com/
THANK YOU!!
Chris is was wonderful to meet you and attend your classes at Haven. Thank you for all the hard work you and the team put into the conference. I love blogging and came home with so many wonderful ideas and so inspired to be better at what I love. Your a beautiful woman inside and out and I love your way with people. You are “Just a Girl” but so much more!

Cindy–please stop. I’m going to cry. I just left a comment on your Haven post, but let me reiterate that it was a Haven highlight for me to meet you. THANK YOU for making me feel so good about myself! I need to carry you around in my pocket or something.
Hi Chris, I got here thru your bedroom in Better Homes and Gardens… lol
What a great idea using pallets there. I have only started going thru your blog but I can tell you have a sense of humor. Thanks for sharing your life, ambitions, family.
Stay cool,

Thank you, Camellia! Fun stuff for sure.
Just wanted to drop a note and say your blog is AMAZEBALLS! I am a blog stalker (hopefully, eventually a blog maker), and am always blown away by the creativity and craftiness of you people. Pottery Barn ain’t got nothin’ on you! Keep doing what you do, we love it!

I wanted so much to buy the iron clad paint but was told they don’t make it anymore but have made another to take its place. I haven’t been by Benjamin Moore yet but what do you think will it look the same as your beautiful furniture you painted? Please let me know before I buy it. Love your blog. Thanks Gloria
This is fantastic. So many women play so many roles and it is so nice to see that we can share it with others and know that we are not crazy, other people do the same thing out there!
Keep it up!
I love the daughter’s bedding (powder blue and coral). Does anyone know anywhere to purchase one like this. I am not for sure if she made it or not. Thanks.
Great blog! Thank you for sharing and inspiring other people. I am just getting started with blogging and one post I have upcoming is on – blog banners. Yours is on the list as a beautiful blog banner. Hopefully I can get that post out in the next couple of days
depending on how my son’s nap time goes.
I’m new at everything. Blog, do it yourself projects. I’m also a stay at home mom with two precious blessing I never thought I would have. I just moved in to our second house and would like it to feel like home. It’s been caos. I’m not goo with math( measurements) so I figure my projects won’t be the best. I would love to do my daughters room. We live in the south and I noticed that their room changes temp. Constantly so I would like to put up a fan. I just don know where to begin…do I buy there bedding first? Or the curtains? I’m not scared of color but don’t know what color to pick. I am from NYC and lived in the projects as they call it so organization and painting wasn’t on the list. I looked at your blog and wanted to tell u that you are an inspiration and I love your personality and style. I too don’t like to spend too much money if I don’t have too but what major tools do I need to have? Hope I wasn’t a burden just love to learn.
